Deno's Diary Part 3, A new Chapter

Deno (proper name De Novo) was adopted by FHG posters in 2005 when one of them, Shebalator, rescued him from slaughter.

Then - 700lbs underweight with a broken jaw and multiple other ills.




2008 - still struggling with sarcoids but finally fit enough to have a light rider up for the first time so he could
join his mates on a jaunt round the local lanes



2009 - due to sheb’s declining health, a new home was sought for Deno.
A very brave ebayer named upthecreekyetagain ( very apt name I think you will agree) agreed to take him on.
So, now Deno lives in Surrey with the Creeky family, plus 3 lovely mares. He has 5 acres of grass and orchards to roam in and is very happy.



His sarcoids still remain a problem, but a new vet is investigating them further to decide on the best course of palliative care.

Deno is reliant on fundraising and donations for his food, medicines and all the things that make his world that bit nicer.

And to mark the start of the next chapter of his life.

Geranne its no problem to send the money through to loonys. 

One thing i do like to do when given a task or in this case fund raising is give as much information as possible.  i consider it important to do this so it lets people know about what they are thinking of supporting.  hence my information thread.

Some people for example do not know about the deno web site.

Looking at the deno section, to my mind it has to be kick started and as soon as possible hence my two fund raising threads which were very low cost as i know times are hard and people support so many good causes and charities and deno is just one of many.

please read my email sent through to your PP account address and lets see if we can iron things out and get cracking again.

To let you all know what i am doing about the donations for deno.

i assume that by clicking reply on the PP payment that it goes to the sender   yes ???

have had two donations of £10 and £5 today which i hope the donors have had an email from me ?

I have opened up word and am recording each payment .  amount and date recieved to keep track as the bank account keeps money for other causes as well from time to time.

from time to time i will post a total on here and also let you know when croaks needs some pennies.     This wil be all money i get for deno including amounts from else where.

It was going to rain so OH is taking day off, so he is doing some of my running around but I have to organise it and work out what he can/can't do, especially as it's late opening day at the bank so I don't have time to run down there and get back before he needs the car!. Now I can walk up the high street but really can't spare that much extra time but then he's saving me some!. Hmm

so sorry i seem to have upset so many people,

i do try to email people when deno dosh comes in, but it seems my messages are not getting through, i think i have a gremlin in my system, as my selling account is having the same problem,

anyhows, as some of you know, i have not been very well, so have had to take a bit of a step back this year, i am sorry if i haven't been around.

to be honest, have not had many donations through the merlyndriver account of late, well most of this year really, the exception being greanne, who i have tried to reply to, sorry my messages are not getting through.

am happy to continue to be the keeper of the deno dosh, and will try to pop on here more often.

i really do thank you all for continuing to help the terrible trio, deno is, and always has been a clumsy big lug, if he can, he will!!

sadly, i think many people have switched off from ebay forums and gone into groups or facebook, guess that is just the wy it goes.

i hope that has explained some things, i really don't mean to ignore anyone,

I did hear that you were unwell Gothic.  However, if managing Deno's fund is too much for you personally, is it time that MDCC ran iall fund-raising for Deno and Posh through Loony's account?  ]

I don't know all the ins and outs about who 'owns' Deno and who has to make the responsible decisions for Deno. 

As a multi-charity forum leader, I am more anxious about getting the money to the right place.  Moz appears to be able to do that.  The forum wil never raise massive amounts of money for Deno in 2013 because Chaldon Animal Sanctuary is our calling for this year.  But a trickle of funds is better than a kick in the leg from the Deno boy!  

Moz - I know you want me to answer a PM.  I have had sciatica for a month and I can only manage about 1 hour a day sitting up.  I am not ignoring you at all.  Please bear with me.  I try to use my 1 hour of sitting up as efficiently as possible so I am encouraging forum members to list for Deno in December.

I think perhaps many people don't know that Gothic originally offered to loan her account to Deno to save Creeky some troublesome paperwork.  Before that we had no single place to send PP payments so Gothic stepping up made a big difference as people were often less willing to bother with sending cheques or converting cheques to PP......especially for donations.  

I originally had access to her account to both provide reassurance that everything that went in there for Deno got to Deno (it always has) and safeguard Gothic from any suggestion of profitting from him.  I haven't needed to look in there for a couple of years because funds dwindled to small amounts as fundraising moved to groups which had their own ways of moving the proceeds to Deno.  

I think Creeky being able to immediately access funds from the pot rather than the current system of Gothic sending a cheque is a good idea, but I do bridle a bit on Gothic's behalf at any suggestion that she hasn't kept Deno's piggy bank well enough.   She hasn't had any thanks for doing it, other than from Creaky, in all these years.   

I can't see any reason why both ways of filling Deno's piggy bank can't remain, and view Gothic's as a useful savings tool for big things like winter rugs as it would be very easy to constantly call on funds that are immediately accessible, so a once or twice a year cheque might be very useful.

its difficult for me to comment any more on whre funds go as i am involved.

Of course goth has done a wonderful job and no one must doubt that and hope she still does it for ever and ever. 

i have emailed goth back and suggested if shes agreeable that people use which ever method of deposit they want to.

The last thing i want to do is upset anyone by appearing to take over.

Thats not the reason why i suggested using loonys at all.

My main concern is now that fund raising for deno has revived is that it continues where and when if people can afford it nd the oversized spoilt clumbsy lummix is keep in the style he has quickly become acustomed too.

Its wonderful to see Deno getting attention again, and anything that helps keep that up is ok by me.

I just don't want to see any more aggro and hurt feelings for anyone........ just lots and lots of polos and karrits for Deno and his family.

Please don't take this the wrong way but could this discussion over where the funds should be paid into be taken off this thread, (and preferably off board)

I know that there is no real aggro over this but some may not see it that way.  As far as I am concerned sending money to either Goth or Moz is fine by me so maybe the simple answer is that when donors want information on where to send donations to then details of both can be supplied.

On behalf of Deno and Posh I would like to say a big thank you to both Goth and Moz and the biggest thank you of all to all those who are supportive of their welfare, (ie the Polo and karrit fund) :-x

It has never been my intention to hurt anyone on this thread.  However, sometimes it is better to explain to a group of stalwarts why the fund-raisers on the periphery started drifting away. I am doing my very best to encourage people in the forum to list for Deno this month.

And I only popped onto this thread to say that Ringo boy had donated some of his toys and treats for the horses. 😛

I am off on holiday tomorrow night until 5th January.  I have the Tilly the witch with me so I have to take photos and write her blog when we get back. 

She will be listed in January MDCC for Deno ..... so stand by your beds everyone!  She is a right prissy miss to have around.  

Can I take this opportunity to wish everyone on this thread a happy Christmas and a joyous New Year.
