Our fund-raiser has confirmed she got your acknowledgement email this morning. Thank you.
Thank you so much xx
The sarcoids are doing brilliant - didn't flare up at all during the summer as they normally do - we are still putting the acyclovir on them every other day just in case but he is virtually free of them - that cream has been miraculous.
We are having problems with his front hoofs now 😞
He got an infection earlier in the month which caused an abcess - this was cut out and treated successfully with antibiotics but since then he won't let Freddie trim them without a sedative - which means we now have to get the vet out as well as the farrier every six weeks.

Hello Creeky, have just listed some cards for Deno, havn't listed him for himself if that makes sense, think he has been rooting in moz's wardrobe and pinched her bonnet

I didn't realise how long it had been since I'd posted an update!!!!!!!!
Deno and Posh are still very much alive and enjoying life here in leafy Surrey. We've had our ups and downs with them over the past few months but both are now full of the joys of spring.
Deno's sarcoids are virtually unnoticeable now - the acyclovir cream is working wonders. We were hoping to get him fit over the winter months so that he could enjoy riding out this Spring. He scuppered that plan however in November by ripping open a saucer sized wound on his knee. It was the old scar he managed to rip open by kneeing the fence when he got impatient to get at the feed being prepared for him! That has taken the best part of six months to heal as the wound was right down to the bone and the large flap of skin had no blood supply so had to be cut off. Anyhow he's fine now although you can still see the scar.
Posh got an abscess in her hoof that had to be cut out leaving a large cavity. She now has a leather patch on her foot attached with a special extended shoe which not only stops any dirt getting into the wound but provide support for her weak tendons.
The Welsh Gits are doing well and have both qualified to jump at Hickstead later in the year.
I'll try and post some photos over the next few days.

How is are the famous equines doing now please? 😄

Well . . .
Deno decided to knock himself out about three weeks ago! He was in the shelter and was spooked by something, probably one of the other horses. He banged his head on the main roof supporting beam and split his forehead to the bone. He was sort of staggering around and we knew he wasn't himeslef when he wouldn't eat!
We cleaned and dressed the wound and by the following morning he was pretty much back to his old self - the vet has examined the wound but it isn't infected and a fly mask is keeping it protected whilst the fleah grows back - yet another scar for the great lummox.
Last week he suddenly went lame so had to get the vet and the farrier, (Freddy), out - Freddy found a big abcess which he cut out - Deno has just finished his couse of antibiotics and we've stopped putting a poultice on his hoof - the abcess appears to have cleared up, fingers crossed.
At the same time as treating the abcess Deno had his teeth filed down, (needs doing every six months because his teeth don't fully line up due to the broken jaw he had). He also had all his hoofs trimmed and his head wound checked.
Apart from the above the horses are all fine which is more than can be said about the current weather.

My apologies for lack of updates but I have spent some time in hospital over the last couple of months with a heart problem - I'm back into St Thomas' at the end of the month and if all goes well should be back to my old self soon.
I have been unable to do any of the manual work looking after the horses but the girls, (Holly & Megan), have been stars as have my daughter and wife.
The horses are all mainly in good fettle, including Tilly and Tally who competed at Hickstead last month. Deno and Posh both have an abcess that refuse to completely clear up but these don't appear to worry them too much, they are just a pain having to continuously poultice them and fit their rubber boots.
Thanks to the hard work of friends the fence alongside the stables has been replaced and new gates fitted - fingers crossed Deno won't wreck them again!

Chaotic day yesterday which made its way into the local paper - http://www.surreymirror.co.uk/Horley-firefighters-rescue-pony-ditch/story-28304115-detail/story.html
Started at breakfast time for the horses - slightly later than normal as it was a Saturday.
8.30 - breakfast prepared but only 3 horses turn-up when called - Tally is missing
9.30 - an hour of calling, tramping through the woods and mud, checking the river and still no sign of him
10.00 - telephone police to check if any reports of a stray horse - no - check with neighbours but no sign of him.
11.00 - return from searching local fields searched without success - further search of orchard and woods - suddenly spot movement in the boundary ditch - it's Tally, somehow he's managed to fall into the ditch with his rear legs straddling a thick root so his feet can only just reach the bottom of the ditch! - telephone the vet.
11.15 the vet arrives and we check Tally - no apparent images but he is well and truly stuck.
11.30 telephone the fire brigade - just 5 minutes later a full size fire engine arrives on 'blues and twos" - show the crew where Tally is stuck - about 300 yards from nearest vehicl access point.
11.45 ten more firecrew turn up in another vehicle - much discussion takes place
12.15 Mercedes Unimog all terrain rescue vehicle arriveswith two more crew arrive - the original appliance leaves.
12.45 it's decided not practical to use the Unimog - will have to lift Tally out by man power. Tally has been sedated and given pain killers - specialised flexible sheet eventually got under Tally. Strops passed through.
1.30 Tally is eventually rolled over so that his legs clear the root and he is slid onto the bank.
2.00 Tally is back in the stable being checked over by the vet - no breaks nor any other apparent injuries. Meanwhile the fire crew have an embarrasing problem - the four wheel drive on the Unimog has failed and it's stuck in our field!
2.30 Unimog still stuck - nothing for it but to make bacon sandwiches, mugs of hot tea and coffee and a large bowl of chips for 12 miserable firemen and women.
3.15 Unimog free at last - winched itself out - plates and mugs empty they depart with lots of 'thanks' and promises to let them know how Tally is getting on.

Nobody could say your life is dull Frank! I hope Tally is ok now.

I guess it's time to let this thread die - shame but life moves on.
Deno is enjoying his life 🙂

It will be a shame that this thread will die but it is looking very like it might not be just the time to let this thread die but also Family, Home & Garden because as you say life moves on and no one seems the least bit interested in trying to keep the forum alive.
Even MDCC seems to have gone now as there was not enough interest in it to make it a viable concern for the lovely ladies to continue with.
People were popping in saying they want to keep the forum going and promising to try and post more to keep it going but that never transpired so maybe you are right upthecreekyetagain, it is time to let not only this thread but also the forum die gracefully and remember both fondly.

You do a wonderful job of keeping us all updated, Creeky, I'm sorry that I don't post more but Deno is a horse close to my heart and I used to be more involved under my previous username (Alchemist)... it's true that life does move on - and at quite a pace sometimes - but if you're minded to post the occasional upate, I will make a point of coming in to post. But If you decide to leave the thread as a remarkable history of an incredible horse (and his compatriots too!) then I'll remember it fondly and will pay it a visit now and again to remind myself of what you and your family did for them all.

I remember you using Alchemist, you may remember me as rescued_corgi but sadly she went to play at Rainbow Bridge so changed my ID name.

I just thought I'd make a short post to assure any Deno supporters out there that the old fellow is still alive and well - we only had one emergency vet's call out for him in the whole of last year, which is something of a record. Mind you all the vets at the practice know him because we have to get the vet out now every 6 weeks when his feet are trimmed because he's fallen out with Freddy the farrier.
He got an abscess in one of his hooves at the back end of 2015 and Freddy had to dig into his hoof to open it up which obviously hurt a bit - ever since then he won't let Freddy anywhere near his feet without being sedated.
He still has a love hate relationship with Posh, goes mad if we separate him from Posh but 'bullies' her when they are together - Posh just takes it all in her stride.
Anyhow all's well here and all four horses are doing fine 🙂

Deno's fallen out with the delectable Freddie? This is indeed terrible...
Poor Deno, feet are always sensitive and I can't imagine it's any different for a horse.
You're doing a wonderful job, Creeky, as always. Deno certainly fell on his hooves when he came to you and your family.
