Ebay have charged me a full transaction fee on sale...belts was a subdivision of mens clothes/accessories.....
Is this correct?

No. Belts aren't clothing and never have been. Same as hats. It's accessories.
The free selling is on clothing so coats, jumpers, t-shirts, vests, trousers, dresses, shorts.
Accessories aren't included in the offer. It's clearly stated in the terms.

Thanks for the reply, its no big deal paying the transaction fee. For occasional sellers it can be quite hard getting to grips with the many exceptions/threads/terms/info in the Ebay labyrinth. I looked for the terms/clarification you referred to but didnt find anything so far. If you do happen to have a link or could point me in the right direction it would be most helpful for future reference. Thanks again.

Ok so for starters https://pages.ebay.co.uk/fashion-selling/#categories
Scroll down to "Which categories are eligible for free selling? " Then it says:
"This excludes categories such as accessories, hats, footwear, watches, bags and jewellery"
Added to that, it's pretty self explanatory anyway. I don't know anyone who would class things like shoes or belts as clothing. People say "clothes and shoes" or "buying a belt to go with some new clothes". So if eBay intended to include those things the offer would be free to sell clothing, shoes and accessories.
