Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

On the 9th April I asked about having the option for sellers to choose not to display their address on the Simple Delivery Royal Mail label, in line with the choice given to sellers if they were to purchase the label directly via the Royal Mail online postage website. You said that you would pass this to the SD team to review, and hopefully add in a future update. Is there any progress on this please?

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

Is there any end to the UK-US Global Shipping Programme debacle in sight? It's now over a month since shipping via this means was paused - there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why some listings are active in this respect again, with category or amount that item is up for not being of relevance.

PROMOTED ADS FEES CHANGE 6/2025

I`ve just come across a message from ebay regarding promotion fees. This seems yet another example of fee creep which has been going on for 20 years and started with introduction of fees on postage charges and min fixed 30p fee but now seems to have moved ever further. ….

Starting from 24 June, items listed on ebay.co.uk, ebay.fr, ebay.it, ebay.es and ebay.au.com and promoted with a general strategy will use the following attribution definition when reporting sales and charging ad fees:

An attributed sale will be when any buyer purchases the promoted item within 30 days of any click on the ad, regardless of whether the buyer themselves clicked on the ad. The item must be promoted at the time of click and the time of sale. The seller will be charged the ad rate at the time of sale

If I`m reading this correctly (ebay comms are often a bit vague) then if someone looks at a promoted listing then anyone else buys within the following 30 days I will be charged the promo fee,. This will mean realistically an extra 10% charge (I fix my general promos to 10% max) on virtually every sale! I have a particular issue where I have multiple listings of 250 different items, whilst I accept that the monthly listing fee is great value on these this new charge will be a crippler as my items are mostly low value 99p ones.

It seems to me this will then also enable ebay to falsely report how well my advertising/promo sales are doing by including loads of sales where I`ve paid the fee but the buyer never even saw / used the promo!

I think this is very poor treatment of sellers and I will remove my promos from at least every multi listing that I have, if not all items totally.

Please would you confirm if I am wrong on any points, or if my interpretation is correct

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

Hi Guys

I have asked a couple of questions on here in the last few weeks and was advised you would investigate – are there any updates please?

  1.      With the forthcoming changes to promoted listings if someone clicks on one variation, in a multi-variation listing (not just multiple quantity which i see you have answered), will every sale from that listing for the next 30 days attract a fee – which can be up to 250 different variations?
I sell a lot from multi listings and at present about half of these attract a promoted listing fee. If I understand the proposed changes correctly, the other half will also now attract a fee (as every multi-variation listing attracts at least one click per month under the promotion) which will effectively double the cost of the promotion – with no added value or volume from eBay.

Clearly it means that I have to change or abandon my promoted listings strategy and I just want to be clear of the facts. Can you please confirm one way or the other if one  click on any multi- variation listing means that every variation now attracts a fee and if so is there a work around?

  1.      With the Windsor framework Royal Mail’s own website asks for additional information for postage to NI – weight, type, value etc. When I try to purchase postage to NI through Ebay it doesn’t ask for this information – is it compliant?

Thanks

Thank you. Is it please possible to send them a nudge as it is quite an urgent matter given that it affects the privacy of every single ebay seller? I thought it would be something they'd be able to fix in a couple of hours, rather than a couple of months.

Stolen apostrophes!

Hi eBay team. Firstly, I am pleased to report that some of the Simple Delivery issues previously highlighted on the Community Chat do now seem to have been resolved (but don't get me started on Estimated Delivery Dates!).

Anyway, unfortunately, the apostrophe gremlins have been at work again, stealing the little grammatical marks from Member Feedback and business Terms and Conditions (the info available under the Seller Business Information section on each listing).

Here are two examples from feedback I have left for others:

"...I m..." should read I'm -
Apostrophe01.jpg

"...you re..." should read "you're" -

Apostrophe02.jpg

And here are two examples from my business's T&Cs:

"...device s..." should be device's -

Apostrophe03.jpg

"...Royal Mail s..." should read Royal Mail's -

Apostrophe04.jpg

These are just a few examples. Hope the tech team can get this sorted for those of us who worry about these things 😊

Hi @dantwocats ,

We have reported the listings but you will need to manually revise the listings to update the correct postage. When listing newer items you should have the option for the correct postage.

Thank you.

Hi @jjambadger27

I don't have any updates on it other than it's currently rolling back out on a limited scale. I don't have any details on how its rolling out but we will share more when we have any updates.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

I have been using Simple Delivery for a while now. On the whole it works fine for me.

BUT, eBay really need to be more generous when combining. I sold 3 items (3 x LL @2.70) to a buyer the other day, and they were charged just over £5 postage. I could have sent the parcel, for £3.
Given that eBay would only be paying around £2 per parcel (probably less!), they can absolutely afford to be more generous.

Another solution would be to ask the buyer if they want to pay instantly, including the too-high postage (making it clear that the cost eBay's decision, not the seller), or wait until the seller has selected the size/weight of the combined parcel. If that had been an option on my sale, I could have just selected 1kg Small Parcel, and ebay could then have just charged the buyer 2.94 for an Evri label.

Hi russellmattin, thanks for your question.

Yes, promotion fees are changing, if you click here, you can see more about it. However, to clarify your question (we have had similar queries over this).

,please note that,  eBay ensures compliance with advertising standards through a combination of policies, guidelines, and monitoring systems. Below you can see some ways eBay achieves this:

* Advertising Policies: eBay has specific advertising policies that sellers must adhere to. Sellers are required to provide accurate descriptions and avoid misleading claims.

* Seller Guidelines: eBay provides detailed seller guidelines that outline best practices for creating listings and advertisements. These guidelines help sellers understand what is acceptable and what is not, ensuring compliance with advertising standards.

* Monitoring and Enforcement: eBay employs automated systems and human reviewers to monitor listings and advertisements for compliance. If a listing is found to violate eBay's standards, it may be removed, and the seller could face penalties, including account suspension.

* Education and Support: eBay offers resources and support to help sellers understand and comply with advertising standards. This includes educational materials, webinars, and customer support to address any questions or concerns.

* Collaboration with Regulatory Bodies: eBay works with regulatory bodies to ensure its advertising policies align with national and international standards. This collaboration helps eBay stay updated on changes in advertising laws and regulations.

By implementing these measures, eBay strives to maintain a marketplace that is fair, transparent, and compliant with advertising standards.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

Simple Delivery question.

A number of sellers, including myself, are unable to select the 2-10Kg option, it's simply not there in the package size list. The up to 2Kg options are there, then the next option is 15Kg.

I know the option exists, I regularly see listings with Simple Delivery at the 2-10Kg rates. If I click "Sell it yourself" on one of these, it recommends the 15Kg option.

Are they aware of this, and is there any ETA for a fix?

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

Could you please explain WHY the onus is on sellers to select correct postage, as you state in post #10?

The seller DID select correct postage. eBay then changed it to an incorrect amount, and most sellers will have no idea that this happened at all, let alone that you think it's their responsibility to correct eBay's errors.

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

I asked a few months ago about multiple accounts coming from one seller selling the same items and was told by marco@ebay that it was against the rules. I've asked several customer support staff both on the phone and face to face at the latest roadshows, the same question to be told that was it against the rules under duplicate items. So can I ask how as a seller, to report these for actioning, because I've reported these items, I've spoken to customer support several times, face to face and via phone and even spoken to a few members of the "management team" in regards this and no action is ever taken.

So could you tell me how to report these items/sellers in such a way as to be effective or is eBay just giving tacit permission for sellers to have multiple accounts and sell the same items?

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

In regards my above comment, I'm now up to tracking "one" seller with over a dozen different accounts, using the same details, selling the same items. So what would stop us as sellers doing the same?

Hi mygaras, thanks for your question.

Yep, this was a technical issue from our end, which was resolved. However, if you are still seeing that, I will get that reported for you no problem, could you please confirm a couple of screenshots, so I can get that reported for you?

Thank you,

Marco
