Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 11.06.25 @2pm

Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay , dave@ebay and marco@ebay . Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.

To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.

Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.

If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!

Many thanks,

Your eBay Community Team

kat@ebay eBay needs to re-think this; most of your sellers trust you to get things like postage correct, and would never think of checking, or making sure that they have got it right. It's just yet further confirmation that this unwanted system was nowhere near ready to be implemented when you first tried to. It has been an unmitigated disaster, and we see no indication at all that it's going to improve any time soon. I really feel sorry for you guys having to front this up. You probably know more than we do about what an utter failure this has been.

This must be frustrating for both you and us.  Is there any way you can get someone from a relevant team to come along to one of these sessions?

Hi @johnwash1 ,

I appreciate where your coming from. These weekly chats are run by the community team and there is no plans to have other people attend them.  We share the feedback and sentiment from these chats along with the discussion boards with the relevant people within eBay.

If there is information that needs to be clarified we follow this up with the relevant teams and provide updates as best we can.

Thank you,

Kat

Hi Guys

I have asked a couple of questions on here in the last few weeks and was advised you would investigate – are there any updates please?

  1.      With the forthcoming changes to promoted listings if someone clicks on one variation, in a multi-variation listing (not just multiple quantity which i see you have answered), will every sale from that listing for the next 30 days attract a fee – which can be up to 250 different variations?
I sell a lot from multi listings and at present about half of these attract a promoted listing fee. If I understand the proposed changes correctly, the other half will also now attract a fee (as every multi-variation listing attracts at least one click per month under the promotion) which will effectively double the cost of the promotion – with no added value or volume from eBay.

Clearly it means that I have to change or abandon my promoted listings strategy and I just want to be clear of the facts. Can you please confirm one way or the other if one  click on any multi- variation listing means that every variation now attracts a fee and if so is there a work around?

  1.      With the Windsor framework Royal Mail’s own website asks for additional information for postage to NI – weight, type, value etc. When I try to purchase postage to NI through Ebay it doesn’t ask for this information – is it compliant?

Thanks

Hi @jamjartoys

The shipping team came back and advised that we are fully compliant.

On the Royal Mail site they could have B2B purchases, which may be why they are asking for additional details.

On our side, purchases are generally either C2C or B2C, in which case the information requirements are:
  • name & address of buyer/seller
  • value of the parcel
  • weight of the parcel
  • description of the goods
All of which eBay would have and can pass through to the carrier if needed.

I'll come back to you on the other question when I have more.

Thanks,
Dave

Stolen apostrophes!

Hi eBay team. Firstly, I am pleased to report that some of the Simple Delivery issues previously highlighted on the Community Chat do now seem to have been resolved (but don't get me started on Estimated Delivery Dates!).

Anyway, unfortunately, the apostrophe gremlins have been at work again, stealing the little grammatical marks from Member Feedback and business Terms and Conditions (the info available under the Seller Business Information section on each listing).

Here are two examples from feedback I have left for others:

"...I m..." should read I'm -
Apostrophe01.jpg

"...you re..." should read "you're" -

Apostrophe02.jpg

And here are two examples from my business's T&Cs:

"...device s..." should be device's -

Apostrophe03.jpg

"...Royal Mail s..." should read Royal Mail's -

Apostrophe04.jpg

These are just a few examples. Hope the tech team can get this sorted for those of us who worry about these things 😊

Hi @mygaras, thanks for your patience on this.

I've just got an update on this, and the technical team was unable to replicate the issue. We have different ways to review feedback, and in any way they were able to replicate the issue, so they believe that originally the comments were entered in the same way they're currently being displayed. We've checked different comments from different users to see if we could see the same on other comments, but we couldn't find any, and no other users have reported the same issue.

If you get to see this again in a different comment, please let us know and we will take a look again.

Thank you,

Marco
