Considering selling is now free, and the fees are just paid by the buyer via this daft new protection scheme, has anyone thought of just refunding the buyer the fees?
I might do a test!
"Buy this item and I will refund you the 75p + 4% new buyer protection fee!"

Nothing to stop you doing a post sale partial refund. The only problem is that buyers might think they are not going to get protection if you refund the 'fee'.

That won't work unless you artificially inflate your price to compensate for the fee that gets paid directly to eBay. Unfortunately, there are no winners in your proposal. Good try though!

Good point, OP would be refunding something he never actually got.

It will probably work just fine but will no doubt cost you Paypal etc fees . But , why should you have to ? The buyers fee is just pure eBay greed . If everyone stopped listing and buying for a month even eBay senior management should get the message !

You can part refund from your ebay account, PayPal are not and shouldn't be, involved.

Long time since I sold anything so forgotten most of how the system works . Just know that refunds go through the original payment method to your bank .

Yeah, it would just be a partial refund. And you'd have to explain they would still get their protection in a well worded manner.
No skin off my nose. I was paying fees before and I don't mind paying fees again. So I wouldn't be inflating prices, I'd just pay the fee to the buyer instead of ebay!
Would rather make sales than not, because the word on the street is that buyers are being seriously put off.
I do search for a particular kind of item every day and overnight the prices went up by £3. So I personally will no longer be buying from personal accounts any longer.
