Offers to seller

An item was on offer at £38 to buy OR Make an offer. I made an initial offer at £32 which was declined - no problem with this. 2nd offer was £36 which the seller allowed to run out of time. Made a final offer of £37 which was again allowed to run out of time. Question is - if a £1 reduction offer is not acceptable, what is the point of asking people to 'make an offer'? I know the seller has the right to decline or allow time to run  out but in this case, the last 2 offers were not asking for massive price reduction. Am I missing something obvious or not?

Re: Offers to seller

It might be that the seller did not intend to allow offers on their item. By default it can get added by ebay when an item is re-listed. The seller may not have had time to amend it yet.

Re: Offers to seller

Fair enough but would the seller not have received mails from Ebay detailing offers that had been made (even if not expected!). If the seller had emailed me to say offers not part of the deal, it would have at least saved me waiting for a response and making further unwanted offers. Maybe I am expecting too much of people?
