New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

I have just seen the new Feedback Profile page, which made my heart sink. Although there is an option to switch back to the Classic Feedback page, presumably this horrible new version will be permanently foisted upon us sooner or later, whether we like it or not.

Perhaps those using a mobile find the 'new look' pages preferable, but as a laptop user, I'm finding everything takes longer, and looks worse. If I could roll back the site to how it looked 10 years ago, I would do it without hesitation.

The new FP page is a nightmare to use, involving pop-ups & sliding boxes, drop-down menus & various filters etc etc. As a buyer, I don't want to have to spend all my time clicking & scrolling & filtering to find the information I could see at a glance on the Classic FP page.

I was really hoping Ebay would leave the FP page alone, so this feels like the last straw!  No Member quick links, no handy Feedback ratings box, no yellow DSR stars... and it looks like the coloured stars next to each feedback score have been removed, too. Everything that used to make the page easy & pleasant to use has disappeared.

Buying & selling on Ebay used to be pretty straightforward & enjoyable, but all these changes have turned it into a frustrating, time-consuming, headache-inducing chore.

No doubt we will be told 'you will get used to it', but I still miss the Classic pages that have been replaced over the past few years. And why should we have to 'get used' to poorly designed pages that don't look as good, or work as well as the old ones?

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Everything to do with feedback is rubbish on eBay now.  I've just tried to leave feedback but apparently I can no longer just leave a comment with a positive.  I have to leave "an individual for this item" star choice or the leave feedback button stays greyed out.  This is in addition to all the other totally pointless stars.  I never used feedback on Amazon.  I think it's time I stopped using it on eBay too.

I just want to leave a green dot and a thank you, I'm not interested in anything else.

You can see any member's proper feedback page with a link like this:

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Yeah, I'm quitting giving feedback. If it's awful or brilliant then maybe I'll bother. I'm a seller too, so I understand this is a problem, a big one actually, but it's not a problem of the buyer's making, it's all ebay.

If any alternatives ever allow for the granularity of search or if (as seems likely) ebay "simplify" that aspect out of existence, it's all over for this place. Silly and constant changes are killing it.

I don't know if Ebay are still fiddling around with the horrible new Feedback page, but having looked at it again today, I can't find any link or filter to bring up 'Feeback Left For Others'.

Also, at the moment, there are no prices of items appearing alongside buyers' feedback comments, which can be seen in the 'From' column on the nice Classic page.

I hope these features will be included in the new page, but Ebay does seem to enjoy removing anything useful, and then messing about with what's left.

As derpybay said, 'Silly and constant changes are killing it'.

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Yes, this is already much better than the new thing...But I still have to click on the "Most recent" tab, therefore scroll the page to the far-right, as I find 'Most recent' much more relevant than ebay's own choice of 'Most relevant' (Based on what? Hiding some bad feedbacks?...)

Couldn't agree more. Sad. Nonsensical, ridiculous, unfair... Can't even imagine how and who can imagine such things.

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

UPDATE: I have now found that you STILL CAN leave feedback comments - Just disregard the new wording: where it says "Tell us about your item", it still means 'give feedback about your seller'.

As you may see from the feedback I left, I decided to leave feedback in the space for their so-called item review after all, then to my surprise found it had gone to the same place as usual: to sellers' feedback.

I don't know what makes me look more demented now: the comment I made, or the follow-up to explain!

Anyway; just to say, please people keep posting feedback, don't give up, it still works, and without a feedback system we're lost.

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

I keep hoping Ebay will see sense and abandon the new FP page. Unfortunately there is little chance of that - once a new page has appeared, they stick with it, no matter how unpopular it is.

I'm dreading the disappearance of the 'switch back to classic view' link, as that will be the end of the nice, familiar, old-style feedback page.

In my opinion, there is no comparison between the two - Classic view is SO much easier to read, with the bolder typeface for feedback comments, & the handy tabs to switch easily to feedback left for others etc. No irritating sliding boxes & filters, which require much more fiddling about with.

As mentioned before, on the new layout, the prices of items are no longer appearing alongside the feedback comments, and the search box is nowhere to be found either. Are we no longer going to be able to search feedback by item title/id?

The only thing wrong with the Classic FP page was the silly introduction of defaulting to 'most relevant' instead of 'most recent'. I could put up with that if they would just leave the Classic page alone - it feels like trying to stop an historic building being bulldozed & replaced by a modern monstrosity!

How I agree! One wonders gobsmackedly: Why?? WHY??...

Just one tip in case you don't know &  if I got you correctly - You say: "the search box is nowhere to be found either. Are we no longer going to be able to search feedback by item title/id?".

I'm not sure which search box you mean as I never used one that was there, since I'm used to using 'my own' wherever I go: I press CTRL + F (for 'Find') on my keyboard, and a search box pops up.

So I do that on ebay too. Does this help?

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Thank you, yes, using CTRL + F would work on the new page, but it would mean searching each page separately. When you use the Classic FP page search box, it brings up all the results in one go.

I can understand that some pages might need changing or updating occasionally, but why do they have to completely redesign & overcomplicate the pages we are familiar with, for what seems like no good reason?!

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

For me as a Seller, the worst part of the new Leave Feedback page is, I can no longer see if/when the item was delivered.  It made it very easy to see if a shippment was delayed and then I could be proactive and track down the problem.  Feedback has been popintless for years, but now the entire page is useless to me.

Does anyone know if there is another place to check delivery status in bulk?  Like in a list format or something?  I sell too much to check each item individually, but being able to scan a list quickly to see if an issue jumps out would be very conveninent.

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

I also was confused by eBay's wording so believed I was reviewing an item, in this case an Edvard Grieg 2CD.

The seller has lost valuable positive feedback. Myself, as the buyer, has been denied the chance to reward & regale for a job well done, thereby keeping other buyers informed, which for me is the satisfying conclusion to a "positive buying experience", as our hosts like to call it.

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Exactly so, and well put.

At least the rating you gave was positive - imagine: buyers could start rating sellers on the product, which may be a disappointing product and nothing to do with the seller, and the seller gets a neutral or neg that shouldn't be for them.

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Yes, there was no need to mess about with the 'Share Feedback' page, as well as the 'Feedback Profile' page. Both pages were perfectly ok as they were.

The wording on the Share Feedback page has just confused people. 'Tell us what you loved about this item' sounds like an invitation to review the item, rather than just leave feedback in the normal way. It was even more confusing when they introduced the 'compulsory product review' star rating - that seems to have disappeared now, thankfully.

Now we have 'Rate the details (optional)', but you have to click on the arrow to drop down the star rating categories, which used to be sensibly situated underneath the Leave Feedback box - now it is the other way round!

I also dislike that silly message under the Feedback box, 'Keep going! Help other buyers by sharing more'. I'm sure that has also caused confusion, making people think they have to write longer feedback.

Have to wonder if eBay are doing this just to drive us all mad.... if so, in my case, they are definitely succeeding!

@department28

Totally agree with you 100%

I too loved the original eBay feedback page which was concise and CLEAR showing any buyer (or seller) all the information they need to see at a GLANCE.

Now, just like what they've done to the seller hub page - It is all a total MESS.

Nothing you can access at a glance on just one page/window/tab... now you have to open half a dozen pages just to see the info you want... These unjustified changes to eBay are now very user UNFRIENDLY and you now need to be a BRAIN SURGEON to use eBay of today !

I vote for the eBay of 2014 to be brought back again as the new eBay of 2024 is now like 1984 ! and not pleasant or user friendly anymore.

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Yes, if only we could have the option of 'old school' eBay... I'm sure a lot of us would love to go back to how things were, circa 2014.

It is nearly two months since the new look Feedback Profile page appeared, and I'm still clicking back to Classic View - always such a relief to see it!  It really is the last of the old, nicely designed, user-friendly pages.

It seems very odd that there is still no link or tab to see Feedback Left For Others on the horrible new page.  I keep checking, but I don't think I'm overlooking a hidden menu, or filter or something.

I always have a look at Feedback Left For Others before deciding about a purchase - you can tell a lot about a seller by the sort of feedback they leave. So, I do hope eBay is not planning to do away with FBLFO when the new page takes over...

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

Totally agree ! 🙂

2 years ago they did the same thing to me with the new eBay seller hub... Like the feedback pages there was an option to revert back to "classic view" which I did for 3 months before one day I went to click this and it was gone ! 😞

So after this I just had to grin and bare it as there was no way to go back to classic view (the better view !)

Great thread BTW 🙂

Re: New Feedback Profile page. No more Classic View :(

For me, using a laptop with Firefox, I find that if I click on the blue tab 'see all feedback' further down the FB page then the 'view feedback left for others' reappears.

Why you now have to do this is beyond me though... it worked fine before with less clicks & thought  needed.
