The item was paid yesterday. The seller marked as Dispatched.

The item has not arrived at all.

But today email arrived from eBay saying "The item has been delivered."

In the eBay menu, the item is set to DELIVERED. But it has not arrived at all.

Why did this happen? What should we do?

There's a glitch where this happens when the courier picks up or seller drops off sometimes, it's happened to me a few times.

Do you have tracking number to check the actual tracking on the website of whoever's delivering and see where it actually is?

If not I would sit tight for a couple of days and see if it corrects, it always has for me.

Sometimes I get one saying they weren't able to deliver when it's a pick up as well. That corrects itself as well.

It's pretty unlikely that something bought yesterday would arrive today to be honest. Marked as despatched normally just means the postage is purchased.

The post office tracking shows, it is Collected from the sellers house.

But it doesn't say anything more than that.

It is strange that eBay tracking says it is DELIVERED when it is not, and it seems to be not working properly.

Soon the sellers will get paid only when the items are marked as DELIVERED, we hear.

If the tracking system doesn't work properly, then will there be some problems in the payment system, and also in the delivery of the items? Getting a bit worried on this aspect already.

Absolutely No tracking system is 100% correct 100% of the time. Though Royal mail tracking is bit more reliable then eBay's that basically just links into the royal mail one.

It not strange at all really this is eBay not known for their reliability or functionality.

It does work just not 100% of the time.

Just wait a few days see if it turns up or the status corrects itself.

Sure, hopefully ebay tracking will get more reliable and accurate.

We feel that tracking system is the most important factor among the others in online trading these days.

Without it working properly, online trading will not be reliable place to buy or send items via.

It's just a misfire of eBay email/tracking following system that's all. The carrier company computer says something happened and eBay's computer has read the code wrong probably.

The tracking isn't created by eBay, it's just piggybacking the couriers sites.

If I've got a few things purchased I sometimes plug all the tracking into 17track or Parcels App and track that way. Just so I don't go out if something is likely to be delivered. Royal Mail tracking hardly ever works with those two these days though but just about everything else does worldwide.
