Return Request closed by the seller. What next?

The item arrived, but it is not what we thought it was.  The item was hidden under the packing in the listing, and looked like something that we needed.  But when it arrived, and packaging was open, it was totally useless item.

We opened the return case saying, it is not what we thought it was.  The return case was closed in 5 minutes by the seller.  There was no explanation or any comment whatsoever why the seller was closing the case at all.

It just says, the case was closed, because the seller declined the return request.  So what next?  Can we not return the item?

You must have used a "change of mind" reason which sellers can refuse.   In future if you are sent an incorrect item always use "does not match description" as the reason for return.   Also it has to be started within 30 days of delivery.    You won't be able to open another case now but contact your payment provider and see if they can help with a refund.

If you selected ' does not fit' as a reason, and the seller has a No Returns on the listing,  or opened the case after the allotted 30 day timescale the the case will close.

A seller cannot refuse a case opened for item not as described if you selected the reason .... Doesn't Match Description or Photos and opened within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery.

If an eBay case closed you cannot open another for that item with eBay.  You can try your payment provider now for help with a refund.

Sure we didn't know that.   There was no menu option to select, it didn't match the description.  So we had to choose "doesn't fit" option.    We learnt something NEW today.  thanks.

Next time if it happens then we will never choose, doesn't fit or changed mind option at all.

We used Paypal for the payment, so Paypal buyer protection will help us to return the item.

Many thanks for your replies on this mysterious happening with eBay purchases.  We live and learn.
