Hi,
I bought a laptop for £51 on an auction but the buyer cancelled the order with the reason that the item turned out to be out of stock. Sadly it was actually subsequently listed that day on Gumtree for £120. I left honest negative feedback on eBay describing said situation. The seller sent me a negative comment by eBay message and had my feedback removed. I figured 'well boo, but never mind, I don't care for such people but I'm not going to buy the laptop from them even if it is still available.'
Later that day the item was relisted on eBay for £120 + £8.99 p&p and in the end sold on eBay for £100 + p&p.
The description of the second hand item in all three listings was demonstrably identical if with minor grammatical changes as though it had been rewritten but corrected slightly for flow and emphasis. The damage to the item's screen (Not what I was buying the item for anyway. I wanted it for the keyboard and as a carcass having recently bought three others of the same item for myself and my two daughters following which one of my daughters inside 48 hours spilled hot chocolate on it and I needed to replace the keyboard.) was described in all three listings and was without doubt the same item.
Ironically, I'd actually have bought the item if it had been originally listed at £120 + p&p (it's a slightly obscure panasonic toughbook spin and flip convertible)
I have had reason to look at my feedback today after another purchase and have found that the laptop vendor after all that has given me positive feedback that states "Abusive eBayer BEWARE"!
I am unable to leave feedback for the item again, which I would like to as I feel an honest appraisal of the sellers behaviour would be appropriate. Sadly I am also unable to request their, I feel unreasonable, feedback be removed I think because it is positive and eBay's AI doesn't allow for a feedback removal request to be initiated. The help centre system returns me to a page giving advice to contact the seller and request a change. It is clear to me that the seller has a vindictive aspect in their behaviour and wouldn't be obliging, so I've not lowered myself to do that.
What I'd like to do is have eBay remove the feedback and just forget the unfortunate meeting. Unfortunately I've been unable to find a way of communicating directly with an eBay representative online or via the phone and don't appear to have a route through the app or web site to be able to request that this happen.
If anybody can advise me of my choices or options I would be grateful.
In case of interest, Panasonic put a part reseller in touch with me who managed to source what he described to me as the last new keyboard available for the legacy device which I purchased slightly cheaper than my original auction win. I have a happy school working daughter again.
Hope you can help me out
Iain
