Loss of income Covid 19 want to return item

help....I bought an expensive antique teddy bear from a seller back end of March but now have just lost my income due to Covid 19.  I have contacted the seller and explained that sadly I have no income coming in and would it please be possible to return him.  He is as received.   They are a ebay business and it says on there listings that they accept returns.  However the seller has just contacted me asking me not to return as they have already spent the money and have nothing to pay be back they suggest I put on ebay and try and re sale myself.  I am at a loss what to do.  They do have alot of other items listed and some more expensive bit and bobs.  I dont like upsetting people but I really am concerned about what to do next

Use the EBay Money Back Guarantee is on every Listing Page. Business Sellers have to accept Change of Mind Returns. Is your Consumer Rights. Ignore his excuses and open a Case. You will have to Pay the Return Tracked Postage and add the Tracking Number into the Case. Escalate the Case for Ebay to Step in on day 9. EBay will force the Refund. You have 30 days from Delivery to Open the Case.

Open a return request, to the right of the item in your purchase history 'return this item' choose a change of mind reason, you need to send it back signed for.

If the seller is a UK business seller, they have to accept returns for any reason whatsoever. It's the law. All you have to do is notify the seller within 14 days of receipt.

The seller's circumstances are not yours to resolve, so open a Return Request for 'change of mind' and follow the instructions. The return will be at your expense, of course, as all change-of mind returns are.  You will be fully refunded when tracking shows delivery or attempted delivery back to the seller, whether the seller has any funds available or not. If not, PayPal will refund you from their own coffers, as per their buyer protection policies, and then bill the seller for the debt.

I am pretty sure the money back guarantee would not cover a return request such as this. If i were the seller i would fight any claim, harsh as it may be. They are not responsible for your circumstances, how would you feel if all your buyers requested returns and refunds for the same reason.

I dont see how this is in anyway could be percieved as a  legitmate return. So you may have lost your income, as have half the country now.

If the item you recieved is as described then that is the end of the matter. Like the seller says, sell it on yourself. How is it in anyway the fault of the seller that your circumstances have changed

Seems to me that you buy and sell antique toys as well
