I want to return an item that was too big - but seller will only offer partial refund

HI fellow ebayers

I purchased a top costing £12.99 however it was too big. I started a return, the seller got back to me and said it wouldnt be worth my while sending it back ( I later found out it had been posted from China) - hence he wants to offer me a partial refund of £5.

I am not happy with this, can I insist on a full refund?  I cant wear the item

TIA

Jennifer

Yes just carry on with your Return although if you have just opened a.Change of Mind Return you will have to pay the Return Postage. Check the Item Location under Postage on their Listing. A lot of them have UK Warehouses. If the Top was sent from the UK you only Return it to that address.

Be careful though these Chinese Sellers do Promise Refunds and Replacements if you Close the Case. Then you never hear from them again.

You can insist if the item was not as described.

But if the description for example said size 14 and the label on the item says size 14 then it was as described and your only course is to open a claim for change of mind but you will have to pay the postage

Ebay doesn't deal in partial refunds. It's return for full refund only. If the item was listed as being in the UK when you bought it, then that is where you send it back to. Check the original listing, which you can do from the order page. If the seller doesn't accept the return request, just escalate it to Ebay on the date shown, and follow the instructions.
