eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Good afternoon everyone

As many of you are aware eBay introduced automatic positive feedback for business sellers, providing certain criteria's.  The item had been received on time, no issues raised, and the buyer has not left feedback already.

eBay were so excited to announce this improvement to business sellers, (an eBay representative spoke to me at a local meetup).  It was working for a while, and now it appears that this improvement that eBay were so delighted to announce has stopped working "not working as intended"

We had a flurry of sales (now dead) and we should have had the eBay auto feedback implemented,  but this has not happened.

I have raised this with the eBay community chat team on Wednesday 17th September , but as yet heard nothing back.

Has anyone else noticed the eBay auto feedback not being applied?

Best wishes

marco@ebay

Automatic feedback is working OK. Can you check if your tracking is being updated on the orders?

If ebay doesnt see the tracking then they dont apply the auto feedback.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, yes the tracking has confirmed delivered on the items, we send everything tracked and  purchase the labels via eBay

We have missed out on a number of auto feedbacks due to this error.

Best wishes

That's a shame, was one of the very few positive changes.

Mine hasnt increased in a few days either, oh well, is it a surprise they have managed to break another thing ?

Not even going to bother to chase it up, might spend the time watching paint dry as it will be better spent.

I received a new one yesterday, so it seems to be working for me.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

I've had this issue since... June.
I have made multiple CS staff aware of the situation, mainly when I call up to get them to manually close disputes that buyers have opened cases stating they didnt get their items, when tracking shows they clearly did.
I've even raised it on the weekly community chat.
It's an erratic issue with eBay and RM integration (I believe).
Sometimes eBay will get tracking uploaded automatically, sometimes it wont
Sometimes when the tracking is uploaded, eBay ignore it - ie they'll not mark it as delivered, sometimes they will.

So yes eBay CS should've made the IT / Integrations team aware of it, maybe they have, maybe they haven't.

Who knows these days..... 🙂

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

eBay brought this out at the end of April 2025 and claimed that it would contribute to the feedback scores and positive rating percentage.

As said it was working as we had lots of eBay auto feedback "Completed successfully - tracked and on time" now nothing.

There must be an IT issue, I have reported it today via eBay customer service (as well as on community chat on 17-9-25) the customer service agent claims they will  look into this within 48 hours.

However, I do not hold much hope on getting this resolved

Best wishes

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Hi

We have not had many Item not received cases, eBay just are not automatically adding on the auto feedback which should happen if the item was successfully delivered and the buyer has not left feedback . It states the feedback will be added seven days after the above is confirmed.  It also contributes to the feedback scores and positive rating percentage.

It is so frustrating as they brought this idea in at the end of April for business sellers, we were getting the eBay auto feedbacks  "Completed successfully - tracked and on time", now nothing.

I have spoken to eBay customer service today and they claim this will be resolved within 48 hours.

Lets hope this is true

Best wishes

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. Might be a loooooooong wait. 😁

We did have it for a month or two and it worked really well. We still get occasionally the odd wee burst of automatic feedback, which turned out to be as below

Last 200 feedback, 26 automatic.
Previous 200 feedback, 141 automatic
Previous 200 feedback, 160 automatic
Previous 200 feedback, 171 automatic
Previous 200 feedback, 160 automatic
Previous 200 feedback, 172 automatic
and so on....

So as you can see, something went wrong somewhere in the last wee while.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

No automatic tracking has been uploaded this week at all
The last "tracking" event uploaded automatically was for a sale on the 14th.
So I've attached an image showing the situation
Item bought on 14th
Posted 15th
Delivered on the 17th (as per Royal Mail)
Tracking was uploaded on the 23rd which was yesterday.
eBay still show that the item is "Running behind" and is not even posted.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

Since ebay introduced it we have lost c. 5,000 feedback as they have not been awarded. Basically, combined both feedback left by our customers and automated one equals to around 50% of our transactions.

That means the other half of transactions did not meet the criteria... which is simply false. Having provided hard evidence, ebay's CS was simply useless. As it is a significant number and issue, even when a Letter Before Action was sent to their HQ they were not bothered to respond within 14 days. Here is ebay for you.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

In that case it's an error with the autofeedback being applied to your account. One for ebay to look into I'm afraid.

I can see lots of automated feedback left for you during the last month.

Something worth noting is that automated feedback isn't displayed by default; you have to click the "Show automated feedback" box to see it. If you're looking at your own feedback change the sort order from "Most relevant" to "Most recent" ensuring the "Show automated feedback" box is checked. Here's what I see when I do that on your feedback page:

Whilst automated feedback isn't shown by default it is still used in your feedback score calculation.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

So the message from the Community Team was "Thank you for the details and screenshot. This was reported by another user and Marco has logged it with our tech team. Its currently being looked into and the soonest there is an update we will post back and update the threads. Thank you, Kat"

So lets see and pingers crossed.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

HI there,

I have just tried to respond to your private message but I got this:

You have reached the limit for number of private messages that you can send for now. Please try again later.

I have not used this feature for months so I guess I have just got blocked.

Also my post on today's chat was removed as they clearly were not happy with my comment about no sense in their response.

I guess that says a lot?

Hi custom-giftsuk

Thanks for mentioning this today on the community chat as I brought this up again too.

I did not realise that lots of sellers were having the same issue.

Best wishes

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

I "think" I have not had auto feedback for close to a month now hard to tell really without becoming sherlock holmes.

Its not a big issue, it was nice that they introduced something that actually worked from the get go, guess the clowns thought it was time to break it.

Re: eBay's automatic positive feedback no longer being applied

It's the wierdest thing though. Why introduce a new thing and then within a few months, break it and in an erratic way?

The feedback isnt the main issue (ok it's an issue.... but not the *main* one).

It's the fact we have a tracked service, which then doesnt upload most of the time, and when it does, eBay ignores it. A certain type of "buyer" thinks they can get a freebie and opens an INR case.

This invariably gets closed when we phone up eBay CS and talk to them but its the time and effort that we and eBay CS have to put into to patching over a system which should and has worked in the past. Also dealing with the inevitable abuse from a section of these "buyers" who think they are getting cheated out a freebie is tiresome.
