Hi, has anyone noticed an increase in UK Royal Mail packages going "missing" recently. In the last 2 days I have had 3 different buyers claiming item has not arrived. One looks genuine as it is Recorded Delivery which has not arrived. The other 2 are fairly low value First Class items and of course I have no way of knowing if this is genuine or not.
Prior to this (I have "lost" a few international parcels) but only 1 UK parcel last year went astray and never turned up.
Anyone else having problems with this?

I have had 2 in the past couple of months which were both packed in boxes. Say the usual check with sorting office. What is really annoying is my PPi label has " if undelivered return to" and my name and address details but I am not getting anything back. Sent an International tracked to Malaysia disappeared off the face of the earth never came back, yet I had one back from Norway not called for.

I have exactly the same problem .... 5 different buyers claim they didn't get the items which I've send almost straight after they bought it!!
Don't know what to do really 😕
I think all of the parcels should be having tracking numbers... At the same price as the normal postage prices... Coś it's really not fair when we loosing money because of Royal Mail ...
If you need tracking on lightweight items take a look at InPost via Interparcel/Parcel2go. Only £1.91 for items up to a kilo.

The Very reason I now wont leave feedback on item bought from myself untill I either received my feedback or I have confirmed receipt of delivery from Courier.
I have left positive feed back in past as a matter of course from Buyers only to get royally fooked by them and E-Bay in returns etc and cant change their feed back.
Neg's dont bother some but at least I get a form of satisfaction in being able to Red Flag the theiving sods. so any futher sellers can at least be warned of the parasites.

I hear you! Same here. It started since September for me. I ran a small business and at least 4 parcels goes missing every week, before I had maybe 1 missing every 1-2 months. Since the prfit margins are very low, I have to work two days to make up for the lost parcels. Can you imagine that~?
My feeling is that the reason for this is that the Royal Mail stopped issuing refunds for parcels lost that were sent with standard mail (not signed for), senders can't claim refunds from Royal Mail so they don't care about delivering it promptly or delivering it at all and they know they can get away with it. The funniest thing is that Royal Mail claim and pride themsleves in that they halved the number of parcels missing! What a blatant lie! I will be complaining to them and then to Ombudsman and then to Ofcom if I have to. Lets go to twitter and facebook and rise this issue, embarass them and whoever can better change the courier. And imagine all the defect count! I don't believe for a second that this is customers trying to scam me, they are way too patient and polite and even if parcel turns up after 20 days FINALLY they email me to let me know. So it is not the customers fault. It is the Royal Mail!
I will have to stop trading if they keep stealing or loosing or delaying my parcels at this rate.
Very Concerned!

YES!
just to add my 2cents.
getting sick of INR's. plus it takes so very long to jump through all the hoops that RM puts in our way when we try to claim for lost items!

Just to add my tale because I need to gripe somewhere... I have found international mail to/from the UK to be quite unreliable over the last few years.
On at least two separate occasions, letters containing sintructions sent from Australia to my bank in the UK have disappeared - I eventually had to send them recorded and tracked before they would arrive. My suspicion is that normal mail 'vanishes' because they are addressed to a bank, so might contain cheques?
Some birthday cards to my father/sister, sent untracked, also disappeared.
Coming the other way, my father-in-law sent an iPod by normal mail to my nephew who was visiting me. If they had mentioned it to me beforehand I would have advised tracking, but nobody did; so I wasn't surprised when it failed to arrive.
I have also been mailing between Australia and Thailand. Never lost anything either way, tracked or not.
Now recently I have been mailing between the UK and Thailand - and my wife's birthday card, sent untracked, has failed to arrive, whereas routing printed matter has all arrived - a failure rate of one in four to date. I use a printed address label, printed in both English and Thai, so it's not be the quality of the addressing.
So the common denominator here is: the UK Royal Mail. While I am willing to believe that an item will get lost in the mail every once in a while, I find it rather suspicious that the items that go astray seem to be the 'valuable' ones: either actual value (declared customs label) or potential value (letters to a bank, thick greeting cards).
Anyway, I've learned my lesson - from now on nothing gets sent without tracking.

When I collected empty sacks from local post office last week I found 5 letters inside the sacks belong to other companys. I returned it back to them. It shows very clear if your item/s is very small and when they make empty it may not come up from sacks and left unattended. At least 1-2 buyers are claiming items not received and one buyer received their item after 11 days which I sent first class mail. Not only that my Monday's items are must affected and many buyers are not receiving until Thursday or Friday. They are getting wrost day by day!!!

hi yes, i have had a coule go issing in the same week, differnt post offices. 😞 £80 down now. never worried about po before but now feeling nervous and one of the people has been very damanding for refund from only 4 days after posting it, which makes me slightly suspicious. everything over £20 i shall make signed for now, but its a shame to have to do that

Do you notice how none of them, even with returns addresses on them, ever come back

I've had several items that I've bought go missing in the last month or so with one being international tracked. Again the only common denominator is Royal Mail. I even had a package posted through the door that was obviously opened with two empty boxes in it that should have contained specialist bolts.
I accept that there are con artists falsely claiming they haven't received items but there are also those of us who have genuinely not received.
