Negative feedback given but has disappeared

I gave negative feedback to a seller for what he/she  claimed i have not checked the parts comparrison chart !! I had done a comparrison check and the photo on the listing was what i wanted . I recieved a item that was poor quality and was not the item i ordered . They said i was in the wrong and would have to pay postage . lol.... My issue is how has my feedback dissapeared and if they have managed to get Ebay to remove it and have done this for other neg feedback how does that give a true representation of a company selling **bleep** !! how does that protect buyers or should i say how does it help a buyer to make up their mind whether to buy from them . If ebay has removed it then they should be giving the buyer the oppertunity to have it reinstated for good reason otherwise ebay are covering up bad sales practices.

No, you're missing the point that these sellers have hundreds of negs removed, I have screenshots proving that. Some are short & sweet as you keep going on & on & on & on about & the rest very rarely mention any cases. They are REMOVED FOR NO VALID REASON. I with I could upload them here

OK, well I'm only trying to let people know how they CAN leave neg FB that will stick.

I totally agree that the current system is seriously flawed, so if you can offer a better solution, that will actually work, please tell us what it is.

Meanwhile, I will continue to repeat myself, on the basis that some people, less blinkered than others, may make use of my advice.

Over promise, then under deliver = negative buyer experience, INR cases, unhappy buyers and sellers.
Under promise, then over deliver = Positive buyer experience, joy and happiness all round.
If only eBay could get their heads round this basic concept, this would be a happier place for all.

I recently did a survey on my own feedback and based on my sales I
currently get about 42% of buyers who leave feedback so the feedback system
is unfit for purpose anyway as it doesnt truely reflect the situation.
I have been told by ebay themselves that they DO remove negative feedback
if it adversely affects a top sellers figures so this only adds to the fact
that the system is useless.
This is also why none of the regular 'ebay experts' who always defend Ebay
no matter what (& claim they receive no reward for doing so) have failed to
make an appearance on this subject.

And as customer services tend to tell people what they want to hear, making stuff up,  you knew this time they were telling the truth how?

And there are always people who are willing to help others. On forums, on websites, on youtube - you can find help on quite a lot of things on the internet. Done by people simply to help others.

Considering how much customer services tell people the wrong thing there's a need for correct information to be given somewhere by someone. You willing to get ebay to do it? Or you wanting correct information to be given by people who have experienced the problem / based on people's experiences they reported.

No one is denying that ebay removes feedback based on their policy, their policy is to remove as many negs as possible to keep the site looking clean & safe for buyers, taking a risk that they won't have to refund too many buyers. Similar to their policy of allowing a negative to be changed to a positive but not the other way round. Also, what "EMPIRICAL" evidence are you talking about??? You mean just you giving us your spiel is empirical evidence???

LOL - perhaps they should be better at removing feedback then.

Look up the meaning of the word empirical. Then  read the forums.

You see? You breached ebay policy. You were asking for it to be removed.

You really aren't very good at defending eBay, the above comment is meaningless, pointless & is exactly why many are rightly complaining about eBays policies. How does mentioning a case affect the buyers experience??? The fact that the seller ignored the buyer until eBay was involved is exactly something I WOULD WANT TO KNOW about a seller, not the colour of their underwear!!!!

What defending ebay policy?

I'm dealing with reality. You gave feedback, it was removed. Because of what you put.

Then you complain that the company follows its own policies.

You'd complain a lot more if they didn't!

How is it relevant to you as a buyer if a seller has cases opened or not?

Surely what you want to know is will the seller provide the item paid for in a reasonable time?

It doesn't get to me at all. I was more curious about the seller I investigated as I wasn't sure if eBay was removing the feedbacks or, if the seller had founf some way to manipulate the site to remove them themselves. One trustpilot reviewer said he saw 16 negs disappear in one night & that sparked my curiosity

Should see what trustpilot will remove sometime.

completely pointless talking to ebay again as i found out about my case, they just give you lip service and complete nonsense replies that dont really stack up, i like there their opening line quote " i see you have been with ebay for 14 years, thankyou for your loyalty"  not for much longer at this rate as clearly once a part/item fails after the 30 day ebay moneyback gurrantee you're on yoyur own, i dont mind taking part in this community chat as it's good to bring this to light again and show exactly what ebay is up to

Yes. For most information you are better using the forum. You may not like the answers but we won't lie to you.

Unfortunately some stuff you must speak to ebay. Usually better trying for Dublin in mornings.

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

This happened to me today. I left negative feedback for the first time in 20 years. I felt it important that buyers knew that the reviews for the seller did not reflect their standards. Now I can see why. I'll not be using eBay nearly so much from now on. How can you trust them?

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

made a big complaint with ebay again about manipulating the feedback system by removing genuine negative feedback for the seller and thus misleading buyers in to thinking the seller is indeed trustworthy, 9 negative in total within a few days, ebay must of been removing hundreds for this seller over the last few months, keeping an eye on it now just to see how many get removed again

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

I've stumbled upon this thread after noticing that a negative feedback that I had recieved as a seller had vanished (first one in 10 years! All because i had lost the item in the couple of months between listing and selling -messaged the buyer and offered an immediate refund or for them to wait to see if i could find it but they chose to not reply amd just leave neg feedback). Alas, it was my fault for losing it (subsequently found a week later, doh!)  so i didnt try to fight the negative, just left a polite reply that i had offered my apologies to the buyer, etc.

It had been on my profile for approx 1 month and then i noticed today that it has vanished and i am back up to 100% Positive feedback.

I just thought it would be interesting to add this perspective to the thread as I had not requested the Neg FB be removed, yet, completely randomly, it has been.

I'm happy of course that i am now on 100%, and genuinely believe this reflects my performance and also attitude as a great seller, but some of the sellers ive read about on this thread are pure shady, reporting the seller is surely the only way for people to move forward if feedback is not reliable.

Hope this offers another insight

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

eBay breaks the rules ok, I purchased an item from china and never received it and was left well over a month so I opened a case stating I had not received it then low and behold I went on to eBay tracking and it was rejected by china post and she had received it back after only 7 days (proof on the tracking) I left negative feedback because she lied to me as the tracking stated and made me wait  30 days before I receive a refund and eBay removed the negative even though she received it back in 7 days and I had to wait 30 days for my money.

As eBay says it's the buyer's preference yes it should be, but they reversed it even though I was scammed big time but to ebay it means nothing to them it is just trumped-up garbage as it has happened to me right in front of my face!!!

Rant Over!!!

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

It's possible that eBay has removed the buyer as a member, if they do that then all the feedback that member left is also removed, as if the member never existed.

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

I've seen it happen. The company I was dealing with had 40000 reviews and not a single negative. You seriously think that's possible?! Not one single person had anything bad to say.

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

Exactly, perfectly clear ebay protect their dodgy high fee paying sellers and manipulate the feedback system to suit their own greedy end, outrageous really that they think it's acceptable to completely mislead buyers like this especially when buyers are trying to see whether a seller can indeed be trusted and ultimately place an  order drom a seller, i have lost complete faith in ebay since this happened in my case a couple of weeks ago

Re: Negative feedback given but has disappeared

Exactly what has happened to me! Negative feedback left for seller who sold me terrible condition item. Now its vanished. Poor practice.

In fact, ebay has seriously gone downhill. Doubt if I will bother using it anymore, will still to faceboo marketplaces and others. 👎👎
