Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Is anyone else experiencing more than average 'item not received' messages for their sold items?

We have never had as many as we are receiving lately, but can't understand why.

Any suggestions please?

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

To which the answer is you factor in the cost of P&P in to your pricing.

I created a spreadsheet that allows me to calculate a selling price based on cost price, VAT, ebay fees, P&P, and desired profit margin (Typically 30% on top of cost price)

Then list it at that price. If your account is in good standing the customers should see your item unless it's a crowded market for selling that item. If it's a crowded market then adding yourself to that mix is unlikely to be profitable.

Not everyone sorts by lowest price and then chooses the cheapest. Some do, some don't.

Yes, we had the latest cost built in to our selling price, but have now had to increase our prices even further to cover the cost of fraudulent claims for non-delivery - something we did not want to do as it increases the price for genuine buyers.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

If I wasn't so honest, I'd become an eBay scammer myself, ordering items that didn't have tracking and then claim that they didn't arrive to get a refund, after which I would take the items to a car boot sale and get cash in hand for them.

Just a thought.

You wouldn't be able to do that indefintley though : after a certain amount of 'not delivereds' , I think ebay would pull your plug.....

Something that really should be built into the price already.  Not after the fact.

After all, whether your selling online or in a shop etc, you are going to get people stealing from you.

It's just the way it is and something that is not going to change, not matter how much security you add.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Until the past few weeks, we didn't have many INRs, so it must be an increase in scamming.

It's unfortunate that our customers now have to pay higher prices, which will result in less sales.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Most people that open a case never close it, unless you can prove they have it. If you cannot they will just wait to get their money back even if they have it. Mail fraud is on the rise. People discussing it actively on Reddit. (How To Do It) Thing is, it won't stop, yes It is theft but until the mailing system improves everyone claiming non-receipt without tracked proof will get away with it.
