Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Is anyone else experiencing more than average 'item not received' messages for their sold items?

We have never had as many as we are receiving lately, but can't understand why.

Any suggestions please?

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

That's really going to depend on how you are posting items, what courier your using and what service?

But it has just been a long bank holiday weekend and it's not unusual for delays with RM.

Most things however generally turn up, though maybe a little late.

Are the items being delivered late, or not at all?

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Had a quick look at your listings, you seem to offer free postage on a lot of your items, which as they are cheap I'm thinking you're sending 2nd class.

Ebay think this is a 3 day delivery service, and that combined with Royal Mail not prioritising them over tracked items, I think it's the perfect storm of them believing the estimated delivery date and moaning when that isn't met because Royal Mail are only delivering a few times a week ( I get normal post once a week)

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

We send all our post 2nd class as our items are so cheap and we offer free postage however we extend our turnaround time as eBay’s so called 2nd class 3 day delivery is totally unrealistic. In fact that’s why we lost our top rated seller status and to be honest I’m not bothered to even try to get that back. It’s virtually impossible. EBay is dead anyway so we are might close our shop next month and focus on our other platforms which are booming

If its Royal Mail then yes, they have been terrible for the last 2 weeks or so. A LOT of Item not Received messages, though so far they have all turned up. Usually taking 7-8 days.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Same here lost my top rated seller over the weekend I send second class untracked as basically can’t afford tracked delivery all the time.

In only use tracked delivery if it’s a multi item in one packet or a item going to GSP.

a buyer on the 17th April aka Easter weekend complained he hadn’t got his order on bank holiday Monday I told him there’s no post delivered them as it’s a bank holiday which he didn’t believe.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Not at all.

I am starting to think that this is a new buyer scam, as with new eBay rules, an item is only classed as delivered if it is sent tracked or 'signed for'.

If it is sent by standard mail, it is never shown as delivered in the customer's account, so the customer can claim it has not been delivered (even if it has) and claim a refund, which ebay will honour.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Most of our items go out (Large Letter) by first class, as shown in our listings.

This is only because we purchased £4000 worth of Large Letter stamps 3 years ago anticipating Royal Mail price hikes.

In hinsdsight we should have purchased 2nd class stamps as these are now half the price of first class stamps.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

If you having an issue with items not received, then I would strongly recommend that you start using RM48 LL.

At the very least, your getting proof of delivery for the majority of items then.

Why not sell the stamps?

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

It's not a new scam. Long bank holiday and good weather does increase the INAD cases if there's no tracking. People need extra money. I went to all tracked because of the "If it's not tracked it's free" some users go by

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Cant go to RM48 LL as that equates to virtually 50% of the cost of our actual sale items. We'd make no profit.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Are you posting with two different accounts as I was not responding to you, but to changgoldleaf

It doesn't make any sense though, if it's cheap enough to send using first class standard LL, then why would it cost more to use RM48?

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Have tried selling the stamps (which are genuine) but there are too many people selling counterfeit stamps really cheap, which eBay seems to condone.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

For 100g LL package Royal Mail 48 is £2.70
First class LL stamp is now £3.15 with 2nd class £1.55

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Not sure where your getting the £2.70 from, but it certainly doesn't cost me that much.

But even so, if your using stamps currently, then you are spending £3.15 per parcel and if you use LL RM48 standard at your price it's only £2.70.  Which is a saving of 45p!

Take a look at the RM price guide for business.

RM48 LL up to 100g is £1.22

Up to 250g is £1.62

Yes, there are some surcharges, but you need to check it out properly.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

We bought our 1st class large letter stamps a few years ago when they were 98p, so it still costs us 98p to send out items.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

Then you simply have to accept that your going to have some losses.

But by the same token, if you sold the stamps, you should get pretty much the current value for them.

And at some point, you are not going to have any choice about the cost, as you are certain to run out.

So I certainly hope that you are building in the current cost of postage, as if you are not, you are going to get slapped in the face when you run out of stamps.

Re: Large number of 'Item not received' messages.

I’m having the same problem been demoted to above standard. I send second class on some but other s tracked 48 and it’s those that seem to be going missing .
They got collected from my door scanned and then disappeared into the postal system.
