After clearing cookies & cache on my laptop, had to go through extra security / 2 step verification when logging into internet sites and service providers.
Ebays 6 digit pass codes were not coming through. Double checked everything and was receiving codes no problem from all my other providers.... paypal, talk talk, royal mail and others.
Trying to speak to a human at CS was hard enough but they admitted there was a technical issue at their end with these codes not being sent or received.
What followed was the most frustrating and stressful week. Couldn't get to my account for 8 days, 20 parcels were red flagged because of late dispatch, customers messaging me asking what's happening (I could read messages because ebay send them to email, but couldn't reply). 3 'Item not received' cases were already open and I was heading for a train wreck.
No real help from CS. They couldn't message my buyers to inform them what was happening, and certainly wouldn't give me their addresses so I could get parcels labelled and sent. They wouldn't even hide my selling page temporarily so no more orders would come in.
Had it not been sorted this side of Xmas it would have ended up with me having to refund approx £600, all because of Ebays technical failure.
Has anyone recently had issues with verification codes ? On one occasion, after about 7 attempts to log in, my page was locked completely because of 'suspicious activity'.
I'm reading that Ebay has had problems with 2step verification going back years.
Can anyone tell me what I could have done differently, should the issue arise again ?
