Hi everyone,
I’m currently facing an issue with another eBay user who has been sending me private messages, threatening to repeatedly report my presale listings. He claims that if he reports me three times, my account will be blocked. I’ve reviewed my listings thoroughly and ensured they comply with all eBay rules, especially when compared with similar listings.
I have a couple of concerns that I hope the community or eBay support can help clarify:
1. Can repeated malicious reports from a user actually lead to my account being banned, even if my listings are in compliance?
2. Each time he reports my listings, they become temporarily unavailable. Based on our chat history, I believe his actions are malicious and not in good faith. Is there any way to block this user or report him for misconduct? Shouldn’t there be consequences for behavior that undermines the integrity of the eBay community?
I truly believe such actions have no place here and would appreciate any advice or guidance.
Thank you!

I'm not condoning threatening behaviour and if I were you I would be reporting it to eBay
however because of eBay's actions in zero fees for private sellers there are a lot of very angry business sellers out there. I'm sure you realise you are posting on a business seller forum and you may well be reading posts from sellers who are totally disgruntled about eBay's actions in making loyal sellers pay whilst sellers who clearly should be operating as a business register as such
if you are not selling personal and household items and are buying items to sell please protect yourself and register as a business. That way you are making sure that any reports are not taken seriously as you have not done anything wrong
but as I said you should not be receiving threats and these should be reported

Repeated reports from the same person won't necessarily lead to your account being restricted.
However, you need to be registered as a business seller in order to sell pre-order items and the listing I looked at says will ship on or before 31st August?
A 'Private seller' account is only for selling unwanted personal possessions.

Adding to the advi ce already given -
“I’ve reviewed my listings thoroughly and ensured they comply with all eBay rules”
Not thoroughly enough because you are a business seller trading as a private seller in violation of eBay rules and the law.
As such you are denying UK and EU buyers their legal Rights by having in your listings -
“No returns accepted”
“Registered as a private seller Thereby, consumer rights stemming from EU consumer protection law do not apply. eBay buyer protection still applies to most purchases.”
Also, posting date must be from the date of payment and not from the realised date -
“Release estimate 4th November 2024. Item will be dispatched within 40 days”

Thank you. That makes sense, I didn't realize about the difference between business and personal seller.

Thank you for answering! This answer explains well to my confusion. I initially didn't get it because I thought business sellers usually are able to obtain products in a lower price. But you are right, transaction fee takes quite a large portion in old days and removing it for private sellers indeed making them more competitive. Thank you, I will accept this as solution.

Thank you for sharing this. I wasn't aware about the difference between business and private seller, thank you for pointing it out.
This is a great addition to the other answers. Thank you!
