Cannot sell items to America due to high tariffs.

Hi,

I accepted some offers on a range of books last night, but the buyer from America informed me that they were unable to check out and buy them using the GSP.

I spoke to an Ebay rep this morning, who informed me that I am unable to sell to the US at the moment due to the high tarriffs that are in place.  She told me that she would send me a link to some information about this, but the link was not in her email.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Does anyone have the actual link or the info related to it.  Thanks in advance.

This is not a technical issue. eBay have temporarily paused UK GSP support to the US while we implement changes to reflect new US policy requirements.

This is being closely monitored and as soon as we have more updates on this we will share.

Presumably this is urgent for Ebay as they will otherwise have to make staff redundant at their GPS centre as I'm sure US postings is a big percentage of all overseas sales. I have lost, hopefully only temporarily, a quarter of my sales.

I usually ship 25% of my items to the US too. I’ve had a lot of buyers asking why we don’t ship over the last few days. I’m really disappointed that Ebay couldn’t have avoided this confusion for everyone and simply send out an email explaining the pause so everyone knows about it. There’s still sellers completely oblivious to this new change and I’ll have to reply to many more potential buyers over the coming days/weeks explaining that we do ship but unfortunately EBay have paused the sales to the US. I’ve also had a customer in Mexico saying they can’t buy - I looked and they’re not on the GSP list either.

I have just sold an item using the GSP and same has happened, they have suspended the service due to high tariffs and shipping fees, it would have been nice if we had been notified! It was a low cost item that was around 1.5kg the Royal Mail are quoting £30.90 for a tracked service with no other options for standard delivery which does seem pretty high. I spoke with customer services but they did not offer a link and just advised to cancel order.

Yes, eBay UK has paused sales to the USA through the Global Shipping Program (GSP) due to increased tariffs. While the GSP is being replaced by the eBay International Shipping Program, there are ongoing issues with shipping costs, particularly for the US, and some sellers are experiencing difficulty using the new system.

Just wanted to jump here to let you know about GSP. We've temporarily paused UK GSP support to the US while we implement changes to reflect new US policy requirements. It's worth mentioning, I'm selling and delivering to the US just fine on eBay via regular postage (not GSP). They're getting through customs this week without issue. I haven't had a package go missing to the US via RM (International Tracked) for over 4 years, so it's pretty safe doing it directly. Could be an option to quickly set it up for the US for GSP sellers, it doesn't take long to do.

Just have to make sure you fill in the Country of Origin on the customs form properly (I use RM Click & Drop). I don't sell anything manufactured in China, so I avoid any of those issues.

Why on earth eBay are getting into a muddle over this I have no idea.

Hi, will eBay sending an official notification out to buyers and sellers to let them know about the pause or just hoping that it’s sorted before most people notice?

It's been a few days now. If eBay were going to send out a note they would have done it by now.

I had the same thing this morning on a trading card. Literally was just told GSP had been ‘suspended’ for deliveries to the US until tariffs and policies were sorted out. Nice of eBay to let everyone know, had a very unhappy buyer.

It all seems a little suspicious to me, why are EBay keeping it so quiet and not making an announcement to save all the confusing for sellers and buyers. It would also give sellers the option to set up international sales with other couriers.

It's not suspicious to me : just a symptom of ebay's usual chaotic 'reaction' instead of 'pro-action'.

Just adding some clarification to the above. 

GSP it is not being replaced by the International Shipping Programme, it will still function as usual. 

We also want to reassure you that eBay is committed to supporting our sellers during this temporary pause on the UK Global Shipping Programme (GSP) support to the US. This change is necessary as we adapt to new US policy requirements, and we are working to implement these changes swiftly.

Please note that items currently in transit with GSP are fully protected once accepted at the UK Shipping Centre and will be delivered as usual.

dave@ebay   Due to the lack of any formal announcement regarding the suspension of GSP sales to the US I only became aware of this yesterday.  In the meantime I have had auctions running, and currently running, where the shipping option is via the GSP.  On some of these I have paid a fee for enhanced visibility to the US and Canada.  As sales to Canada are minute by comparison to the US can I now expect to see a refund or the fees credited back to my account on affected listings from when this suspension was implemented?

There have been no comms about this pause, the first many of us are hearing of it is through lost sales or buyers messaging saying ‘it’s now saying you don’t ship to the US?’

I think it’s important for transparency and assurance that eBay UK put some messaging out as to this pause and an estimated time for this to be resolved. It will help us manage buyers expectations as well. Many of us pay a solid amount of fees to eBay as business sellers, so I would hope eBay would return the courtesy of offering us a platform that is fit for purpose with open communications.

I have just had an American customer ask why they can no longer buy from me - i looked at it seems to be the GSP no longer lets us ship to the US.  I think it totally SUCKS that this has been done without telling us.

I'd like to echo my absolute disdain for the lack of communications from eBay, which is obviously not your fault. It's disgusting. It shows a total lack of care for all the sellers and people who'd be impacted.
