Business Seller Fees

Hi

I am trying to get a simple answer for a simple question.  eBay explanations are to convoluted.  If I sell a DVD or CD as a business seller, what do eBay take after the sale.  I am talking final value fees not listing fees.  For example, the new business protect fee for private sellers is 0.75 + 4%.  Passed onto the buyer, granted, but still requires the seller to add this to cover the cost.

What are the Final Value Fees for Business Sellers with a shop in % terms and any other extra charges?

e.g.  If I sell a DVD to someone for £2.50, eBay will take...?  Out of the final sale.

Thank you.

Re: Business Seller Fees

UPDATE: Enquired with eBay support yesterday as to why I'm not getting the Top Seller discount on my fees, and they told me it was because I haven't had my shop subscription for the full month, and will only kick in on March 1st. Seems like the wrong answer, since it's not tied to shop subscription at all, but there you go. Lots of features being gatekeeped from me (including the postage discount on ebay supplies) until next month - it is not advertised like that at all on the subscriptions, pricing or features pages, even in small print.

Re: Business Seller Fees

I’ve just started listing again on a basic shop opened today so once I sell something BIN I’ll double check the fees and let you know what they did on mine.

I’ve heard people say it takes a month after becoming top rated but not a month after having a shop subscription. It wouldn’t surprise me though with eBay.

Re: Business Seller Fees

This reminds me of the £10 packaging coupon on the featured shop. You don’t get it until the 2nd month.

*ha sorry you literally referenced that packaging voucher. I have a bad habit of skim reading.

They are spinning you a yarn. I cancelled my shop in November and re-started it on March 1st. This is my 1st sale with the TRS discount applied:

Re: Business Seller Fees

They take 10% of the grand total the consumer pays: item cost £5 sells for £10 postage to the USA is £20, US tax is 7% of £30= £2.10 and then there is the Buyer Fee which I'm not sure about, let's say it's a £1. So eBay take a total of 10% of £10+20+2.10+1 which equals £33.10 so EBay earns £3.31 but don't forget the Promotion Fee you might have selected.  In this example you are still in profit because £10 minus £3.31  leaves £6.69 a profit of £1.69 for a couple of hours work!

Re: Business Seller Fees

I've just become a top-rated seller  once more but I don't qualify for anything.

Re: Business Seller Fees

I think the OP has jacked in the idea of converting to business account.

Can’t say I blame them tbh, they would need to sell about 50 DVD’s at £2.50 (and send by letter with no case) just to cover a basic monthly shop fee.

You’re not missing out on much in your line of selling. I only say that as you can reasonably charge extra postage to account for packaging breakables and your buyers would expect that. It is different to sellers of trading cards or DVD’s where free postage is more common.

Re: Business Seller Fees

Just for anyone else who finds this at a later date, I did eventually get the top rated seller discount, but it took until the 1st of the following month after signing up/qualifying. I would also add, I'm also being plagued with other final value fee bugs and issues unrelated to this, hopefully that isn't the norm for everyone switching from private to business, new shop subscriptons, or new qualifiers - because it's been an absolute slug for me here dealing with support!
