Having read a few different posts this month about eBay's Store Fee and listing limits I decided to see how the UK compared to other stores. It's quite a difference and shows how UK Business Sellers receive the fewest listings in each tier.

You can't just do a direct comparison, there are other differences.
Such as in the USA, the FVF is higher. Which nobody seems to mention.

You are absolutely right to hightlight this. I wish more people - and ebay - would notice this and do something about it! It's very unfair. Thank you.

Here is the ebay Ireland one
Basic | Featured | Anchor | Premium |
Monthly subscription fee | €19.50 | €39.50 | €149.50 |
Monthly free fixed price listings*
Fee for each additional listing | 400
€0.10 | 2500
€0.05 | Unlimited
Free |
Monthly free auction listings
Fee for each additional listing | 40
€0.50 | 100
€0.50 | 250
€0.50 |
So I am getting 400 free listings a month. Or so it would seem, but it gets better. I can also list another 400 items for free on Ebay.co.uk with my Irish shop subscription. These can be the same 400 items, or 400 different items. So I actually get 800 free items a month.
I will also note I am only paying about 16 pounds a month for the store, (19.50 exchanges to about 16.10 in pounds as of this post), where you are paying 27 pounds a month for far less free listings.

Yes but we pay VAT whereas in USA only a nominal sales tax is added and in some states there are none
28-02-2025 9:53 AM
And? In other countries the rate is higher. And frankly, it should have no effect on what is actually charged as that is a government tax.
Most small companies are actually registered. As it doesn't take an awful lot to go over the threshold.
Which is only there, to assist tiny companies. Where you have benefits in other ways. ie. your not collecting said VAT to pay to the government!
That it exactly the same for most countries.

Why are you always so confrontational. Everytime someone has an opinion you always have to disagree. Most are just opinions of how they see things. Why is your opinion the only correct one…
We pay VAT on sales . They dont in the USA. Why is that an issue….to disagree with…is it not a fact. If it is not true then that is fine with me, I got it wrong

Not being confrontational at all.
And why exactly is ok for you to have an opinion, but I am not ok to disagree with it?
Why is your opinion more valid than mine?
Yes, we pay VAT on sales. In the USA they pay Sales tax, which is just a different name.
So why is that incorrect? Or is that not a fact?

But I don’t think I have ever said in a post. “I disagree” unless someone is really pushing my button……A thread generally voices different peoples opinions wether they are right or wrong…
As for the difference in prices of countries.” my opinion” is in the Uk we pay 20% vat on top of a sale. In the states it’s between 2.5% and 7 I believe with some states charging nothing. If our sales were charged at the same selling rate as USA plus VAT we would be paying a huge amount in fees. There has to be a reasonable limit set or no one would sell anything.
But that is just “my opinion” right or wrong…

Calm down it's the numbers you should be focused on not the tax paid, tax is a government decision but the listings available for the price is an eBay decision focus on that, why such a disparity.

Seriously, by saying "I disagree", your pushing someone's buttons?
What planet are you living on?
28-02-2025 11:40 AM
Perhaps and this is just an opinion, there are no shortage of sellers in the uk and maybe other countries have better benefits to encourage more to start selling..,
Who would have thought that Australia sellers needed 250,000 listings. Must be desperate there for sellers. lol
28-02-2025 11:43 AM
Australian post is very expensive from what I have heard. So maybe it limits sellers there.
28-02-2025 11:46 AM
Obviously I live on Planet I disagree… or are you going to disagree with that…😜
28-02-2025 11:49 AM
No, I agree with you, you do.

ebay need to look at what the competition offer
I sell across different platforms and all offer a better package than ebay currently do.
Basic - £27 plus 250 listings 100 auction 10p extra per listing
Amazon £25 unlimited listings
Shopify basic shop £19 a month billed yearly unlimited listings
Not sure on the likes of etsy or other platforms but the ones I do sell on ebay is by and far has the worst package for business sellers.

I don't know if it is still the case, but the last time I looked at the US subscription rates if a seller commits to ebay selling for a year then the subscription rates drop. I seem to remember the monthly rate for a basic shop dropped to something like $19.

Rip-Off Britain.
Companies have been doing this to the UK for years and getting away with it, Apple is one example of many who sell in US Dollars and just transfer that price over to Pounds for ther UK, meaning we are paying significantly more.
eBay are doing exactly the same.

Agree we get mugged off big time over here.
I pay for Office 365 just to have a basic excel spreadsheet to record some expenses. Microsoft have just increased my bill from £5.99 per month to £8.49 per month. Absolutely having a laugh.
