Account restriction

Hi all,

I’m reaching out here out of frustration and in hopes of getting some proper support or advice.

My seller account has been restricted by eBay for over 8 days now, with payout hold initiated on the 22nd then all my listings ended and complete restrictions enforced AFTER I submitted all my identification. my payouts are being withheld. I’ve fully complied with every verification request, including uploading all necessary documents and tracking numbers. All of my recent sales have been fulfilled successfully, and I’ve received positive feedback from buyers.

Despite this, eBay support is now requesting proof of delivery for items that haven’t even reached their dispatch date yet, which I find unreasonable and contradictory to eBay’s own handling time and delivery window policies.

not only that they’ve asked for tracking numbers for items that have them already being that I purchased it through eBay?

I’ve received vague or generic responses from support, and the situation is now affecting my business — I’ve had buyers wanting to make purchases but can’t because of the restriction. I’ve asked for escalation, but so far nothing meaningful has happened.

Has anyone else experienced this, and how did you manage to resolve it?

Any advice on how to actually get this taken seriously or escalated to someone who can help would be much appreciated.

There has to be a little more to this than is coming across.

They don't generally put a complete hold on your account, without you not complying with something in the first place.

Is it the account your posting with, as it's 15 years old, but you have only sold 27 items?

Was your ID actually verified by them?

Have there been issues with delivery etc, as it seems a little over the top to be checking tracking etc for all items?

As regards them asking for tracking numbers for postage purchased through Ebay, that's not that unusual.

That particular team my not necessarily have access to the info.

What was the initial reason given for this?  A copy of the email would probably be helpful.

Thanks for your reply — I understand where you’re coming from, and I appreciate the perspective.

Just to clarify:

I’ve complied with every request that eBay has made, including uploading all ID documents, tracking info, and even invoices where needed.

My account has been active for years but only recently started being used seriously for selling — which may be part of why the account was flagged for review.

All items sold have been delivered successfully (where due), with positive feedback from every buyer.

No complaints, no delivery issues, no disputes or chargebacks.

The initial restriction didn’t come with a specific reason — it just said my account was under review and payouts were on hold. Since then, I’ve been passed between generic responses, further restrictions with no clear pathway to resolution, which is where the frustration comes in.

I get that eBay needs to protect buyers and the platform — I’m just asking for clear communication, fair expectations, and a resolution that reflects the actual status of my account.

I am happy to provide the original email, but it would be reasonably pointless as highlights nothing bar what I’ve explained here.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond — genuinely appreciated.

Do you have any other account or does any family member have an account that may have a restriction of some kind?

Ebay will apply the same restrictions to any account they can even remotely link together.

There must be something else going on in the background, as to do the checks your describing is more than a general review.

I don't think that I have ever been asked to provide tracking references etc for a review.

As has been said, if your all square otherwise, then it's likely to be something that they are linking to.

If there is something else being flagged in the background (e.g. linked accounts or a risk marker), I’d appreciate if they’d just be upfront about it, because at the moment I’m stuck in limbo with no clarity and no access to my funds.

They’re holding funds that have been successful also, it’s my fault for not requesting a payout but even those prior to restrictions are being held.

If anyone has experience with a deeper review like this or insight on what they may be looking for, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks again to everyone who’s replied so far — really helpful to have other sellers’ perspectives.

Looking at your feedback it suggests you've started selling jewellery quite recently. It may  be that your activities has triggered ebay's security systems. I've seen posts from sellers who suddenly start to sell expensive items and been restricted in a similar manner to yourself. Advice has always been to start selling with lower priced items to establish a presence and reputation before moving on to list more expensive items. Sellers have regained their accounts but not before jumping through a lot of ebay hoops.

honestly I wish they would just say that if that was the case.

the vague answers they’re giving are ridiculous. Still no clarity, just the impression this will get dragged out
