My iPhone will not support iOS 17.0 so I can no longer use the App on my phone.
The previous version of the app was working fine for me and I had no real problems.
The App store knows my phone won't support the latest version so it says it will download a compatible version which is happily does (I assume). Perfect you'd think. However, when you start it, a message appears saying there is a new version - "Exit or Update" is the offer!! Back to square one.
Am I doing something wrong?
In my opinion this is just either very bad or very lazy coding. Makes me think I can't trust the rest of the coding.
I'm not going to buy a new iPhone. l know I can use the web based version on my iPhone or use my PC but then what is the point of mobile apps? I suspect I'll be spending more time on other sales apps from now on.
This all seems very backward of eBay in an attempt to move forward.

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.
There is another version of the app available for iOS 16 users; see here:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/How-to-update-your-eBay-app/m-p/34920437#M50572
A possible workaround for iOS 15 users is suggested here:
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/App-update-fix-for-ios15-users/td-p/34924192
If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.
If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app". Or just delete the eBay app entirely.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
I think you summed it up in your last sentence:
“Or just delete the eBay app entirely.”
