Just tried opening the app on my android phone and get the message "this version is no longer supported. Please update to the latest version". Pressing the "update" goes to Google play but the only options are "Uninstall" or "Open" - no option to update. Pressing "Cancel" closes the app.
I suspect they pushed a new version of the app to deal with the changes introduced overnight but something has gone wrong somewhere.
Anyone else got this issue?

Don't buy anything on ebay until they fix it. That is what I am doing. Hopefully stop them doing this again.

Everyone, be sure to rate the app on Play Store and the Apple equivalent, maybe that will help get the message across

This is my post from 3-4 pages back:
A temporary way round the problem is to use the ebay website www.ebay.co.uk on your mobile or computer browser, enter your login details, click 'My eBay' and access purchases, bids and selling etc. I use it most of the time and only used the app occasionally, should I say, I used to use the app. Please contact ebay for further information and to express your feelings. The more people that do this the better.
We all hope that ebay will issue a patch for this, as it has caused so many problems. I reckon that 1000s and 1000s of people have been sent up the creek without a paddle.
Please follow these instructions. If you're still stuck, come back here and tell us what error messages etc. you are getting.
ebay.com will get you through to the American site.

If you use the app to authenticate you need to uninstall the app then go to www.ebay.co.uk in the browser. this is because if the app is installed the website might direct you to the app to log in - it won't do this if the app is not installed. You might be prompted to install the app on your first login via the browser - just click "No thanks" if you are prompted to install the app.

I have the exact same problem. Tried uninstalling the app, accessing eBay on the browser, signing in and accessing account that way then reinstalling the app but that didn't reset it but it might for others

The app only updates with Android 10 and above or iOS 17 and above. There is a version for iOS 16 that may or may or may not update. Do you know which operating system you have?

There is no point reinstalling the app if your device doesn't support the new version of it. You need to uninstall the app then access eBay via the browser. You can't "fix" the app if your device doesn't support the new version of it.

Please uninstall the app first. Try accessing ebay.co.uk again.

Thanks for the idea of loading eBay directly from the website!
This works and all content is available, bit clunky but doable!
Don't be tempted to download the app however as you're back to the beginning!
Hope this helps...

My phone (Galaxy S7, Android 8 ) accesses the eBay website, with the un-updatable app still installed, maybe I'm lucky. According to the official eBay announcement, uninstall the app first. It's best to stick to their instructions. Do not be tempted to re-install it, unless your device has the minimum operating system requirements. It just means accessing the eBay website directly. I find this difficult on my phone, due to poor eyesight and fingers like sausages, so I use my laptop, tethered to my phone.

It depends how the sign-in security is configured in the eBay account. If "Sign-in with your eBay app" is enabled on this page the website will try to use the app for authentication if it is installed. Disabling that option should prevent the website from trying to use the app for authentication during login.

Thank you. I have never looked at that before. For most people, uninstalling the app is the best option, unless they can update it, of course.
