What trace would there be of modern humans......

......after say 100 million years if we suddenly became extinct?

Posted this at 03:25 am after a nightmare where a virus had killed every Human on the planet.

Just a thought - time for hot chocolate & bed.

From a physical processes, i.e., geological, standpoint, after that much time had gone by, the continental drift would have changed the face of the earth drastically.  It's possible that some parts of our cities might have found their way into the subduction zones, and been ground up in the molten belly of the earth.   I don' know!

For what it's worth, the oldest rocks, etc. are to be found in Australia.

Another interesting fact to consider is our sun is burning itself up at 4,000,000 tons per second!  So it's gradually getting smaller.  That is why it would be difficult to get an exact distance from the earth, taken as 92,000,000 miles in round figures.

Cut diamonds.

Most are aready over a billion years old - so cut stones should easily survive another 100 million years.

Likewise gold objects unless physically damaged due to heat or pressure

Glass objects should still be around.

There are a lot of modern materials which have an indefinite life and we have no real idea just how long that would be.

Well, one may ask another question as part answer to this.....Can we be sure the earth itself will still be here by then?

Cheers,

John.
