One of my favourite quotes by him:-

he was a good actor,especially in sending up racist bigots,if they had of made a current series of Till death,no doubt Alf would have had a picture of Farage next to the queen!

Mel Brooks the film producer did a similar thing sending up the Nazis and ridiculing them

I vaquely remember Warren Mitchel being on a discussion about life after death,he was asked how he viewed the "other side"

he said "Arsenal?  ***kem !!!

There can't be many TV shows that appealed to so many people for the wrong reasons, which only emphasises what a very special actor he was.
