We pay politicians to act on our behalf, throughout Europe and the rest of the developed world the plight of those fleeing war, famine, religious persecution etc is being ignored. Surely it is not beyond the realms of sensibility for us to expect, even demand a collective humane response by the international community to agree action in those countries where terrorists reign. Allowing and encouraging the victims to flee is wrong, they deserve and should be given the right to live peacefully where they were born and like the rest of us have the freedom to travel abroad and see other cultures. The Russians and Chinese stand by and watch while quietly selling weapons to these terrorists. The west interfered yet never considered the impact they would have. It is time the UN grew up and did what it was formed to do.

Yes JB it would be a hard pill to swallow but the article in my opinion certainly makes a sound case.
Russian intentions are not entirely clear, they do have a Naval Base (their only foothold in that part of the med) so intentions may well be purely strategic, once again the big boys feathering their. Own nest potentially at least.

@fallen-archie wrote:From Iran to Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the Balkans wherever you look one group say it's all the West's fault another says it's terrorists seeking to take over the world, it seems impossible to get a grip on what we can do. In a hopeless attempt to cut through the political fog and propaganda I have read dozens of articles and considered opinions from a wide range of sources. One which I did find interesting I provide a link for, if you can be bothered give it a read, then come back and tell me it's yet more rubbish.

No, I don't think it is rubbish. Not sure I agree with all, but the bit that caught my eye was this:
"In reality, IS is an extremely modern movement, a movement of today and probably of tomorrow. It uses the most up-to-date instruments, like the internet. It is a revolutionary movement, probably the most revolutionary in today's world.
In its rise to power, it uses barbaric methods from bygone times to achieve very modern aims. It creates terror. Not the propaganda term "terrorism" used nowadays by all governments to stigmatize their enemies. But actual atrocities, abominable deeds, chopping off heads, destroying invaluable antiquities - all to strike debilitating fear into the hearts of its enemies."
When large numbers of people take patchworked "news" from sabre-rattling and fearmongering "Guns 'n' God" outlets as gospel, it's pretty much doing ISIS's bidding for them.

looks very similar to this one from 2012
I.m no expert mind you

I agree with you books on the face of things and in a different reality ,but you must be cautious as well (not media drivin screaming) but the people have shown how callous they can be and how they regard christian nations in general, so I would argue throwing caution to the wind is not the answer either.
Cameron is making the most sense to me at the moment if I am honest

Good find! So the link in #113 is a either a completely fabricated story, or someone has invented an App that can travel back in time.

ps ..a shame hes driven 7000 plus to suicide and early graves over here stopping aid for scroungers as we skint apparently ,then whilst at the same time brandashing figures of a 100 million in help money to stop others starving.(nowt wrong with the second...a bit something wrong with the first)

I will go with option 2 as science is really good

Quite. Although the constant "us vs them" in terms of playing those in need off against each other is exactly what the "Bullingdon Boys" want....As well as the flag-waving religious wingnuts fanning the flames at home and abroad.
14-09-2015 11:31 PM
It so obvious its hidden 😄
If the worlds people (world people) screamed at the top of their voices no one of relevance seems to hear, yet when some monger in a tabloid (version) says ''We all think'' every sotting bannana on planet earth appears to believe them. It is such an easy fix ,yet not the kind the 'leaders' ( I mean employees of the federal reserve) appear to want .

exactly tommy ''Europe SLAMS migrant door'' another monger making up the minds of everyone in europe.....
holes to pick...there are no doors in europe ,it isn't a fort...nobody has slammed anything, they have introduced checks and started organising the flow (perfect sense)
So headline could read ''Europe introduces border checks to help allocate those in need swiftly ,during desperate migrant crisis''
15-09-2015 12:56 PM
ps,but where is the fun in that ? It used to be a priority of governments not to panic the public...,I know we live on a spinning orb so things go round and round ,but topsy turvey is a bit infant for 2015 ..no ?
16-09-2015 4:08 PM
It gets worse by the day. The latest footage today from Hungary is just unbelievable...water cannons, tear gas, and the migrants throwing great chunks of stone. If they can fight to get into Europe, why can't they fight for their own country? They are all young men. I wonder what Mrs Merkel is thinking now? 'Oops...I seem to have dropped ze big clanger'.
16-09-2015 6:38 PM
Absolutely shocking is the only way I can describe the behaviour of all concerned, Women with children and babies facing tear gas, youths responding with stone throwing and other forms of aggressive behaviour. The media well represented all trying to get the most shocking picture. There was no sign of help for the refugees, no stop the war coalition welcome tent No UN peacekeepers and no progress sorting out the poisonous Isis fighters who need to be faced up to and their lights snuffed out. To think that the first Prime Ministers Question time was wasted in a publicity stunt and that the shadow front bench include many who feel terrorists should be honoured. The Tories were no better, no new initiatives, despite the responsibility they share for helping to create the instability.
If we simply sit back and scratch our heads we will reap no reward whatsoever. Where is North Africas Nelson Mandela?
16-09-2015 6:49 PM
Mandela isnt a good example of how to help a country and people.if that was the point.
Looked like a football thugs day out ,pictures I saw ,certainly didnt look like desperate folk in need ,but perhaps thats what the media wants to portray ?
16-09-2015 7:06 PM
Not sure why you say that, Mandela gave his life to a simple principle yet the most difficult to acheive, that is the peaceful protest and creation of a new state without prejudice to colour or creed. I will not argue the nuts and bolts of South African politics for that would require a thread of its own, But the North African states could do with someone trusted by the majority, that was the basis of my comment.
16-09-2015 8:38 PM
fair point on needs a person they all trust in the middle east. Agree ,but cannot think of anyone who can settle the sunni shia dispute...they do however have people from both sides that could make each side sit down and rethink ..and the west and east could help by banning arms sales to either and tell them as a world together to stick their oil we will do without.
16-09-2015 11:46 PM
What I cannot understand is why those migrants who were carrying babies were right up the front by the wire, when those water cannons and police were just feet away. There was such an obvious risk of violence breaking out...one would think that their parents would keep them back and protect them. Quite disturbing, and one has to question why they did that.

Exactly HOW do you suggest they could do that?
Attacked on one side by IS on the other by Al-Assad's forces.
