Hydroxychloroquine is a definite no no for anyone with heart arrhythmia.
The drug may have been around for a long time but that doesn't make it safer, it does require frequent supervision by a doctor and it can react adversely with other medications.
To give the impression that it's perfectly safe as Trump did, is positively reckless.
Because I have an atrophic kidney I am limited to what blood pressure medications I can take, it's a seesaw, using certain medication to lower blood pressure also decreases kidney function.

You couldn't make it up? Total lunacy?

Perhaps his 'fans' could swallow a pint of bleach or mainline some Dettol and do the world a favour.
The orange oaf is sooo stupid it was clear last week that he doesn't even know the difference between bacteria and viruses either.
He obviously has advisors so clearly he doesn't listen to the truth.
Ignorance and arrogance is a dangerous combination. Plenty of that about in all jobs but it's a bit more crucial when it is the so-called leader of the free world.

You are right there Suzie,
Wasn't he twittering on about antibiotics not keeping up, when we all know that antibiotics have no effect on viruses.

I see he tweeted how he thought the journalists he didn't like, should have their 'Noble' prizes taken away.
The ignorance is staggering for a president of the USA.

It is the way he tells blatant lies and gets away with it that gets me. An example would be his claim that hydroxychloroquine was perfectly safe when its side effects are well known, some of them such as cardiac arrest, being somewhat life changing.
There are a large percentage of people in the US, and I suspect, elsewhere, who are gullible in that all someone like Trump has to do is say what they want to hear and they will support them.
It doesn't have to be true or even make any sense, they will not check any facts assuming they are actaully given any.
Listen to him speak, all he says is everything is great, no detail.

I think people are right to be aware of the side effects of some drugs but they affect different people in different ways or not at all.
A personal case in point here. Five years ago I was prescribed Ramipril. I didn't know that a possible side effect of it was a severe cough. After taking it for a few days I developed such a severe cough, I couldn't stop, couldn't sleep. After calling the NHS helpline (in the early hours) I was advised to phone the prescribing hospital. I did and after giving my NHS number the person I was speaking to looked up my records and said "Ramipril, DON'T take any more". So now I take something different.
A couple of weeks later I met a lady in hospital who'd been taking Ramipril for eight years with no problems.
We're a living "animal" but we're a bit like a computer. We're programmed with a genetic code. Mostly we've got the same code but with "minor" differences. We have to have minor differences or we'd all be the same.
Now think of a computer program. You input certain data and get a certain result. Now change that program slightly and most things work just fine. If you put some different data in to the original program code, it produces the desired result. Put that same data in to the altered code and things go haywire.
Hydroxychloroquine will be no different. It may help or cure some people but might have severe consequences for some or might even kill them!
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.
