The bombing of Iraq.

Should the BBC be reporting on their News bulletins that Britain has bombed ISIS in Iraq, when Mr Alan Hennings is still being held and has been threatened with beheading? We saw that Parliament had agreed that we should be involved in the bombing, but surely they could have left it at that, without actually reporting the bombing missions. Mr Hennings family must be just living an unimaginable nightmare.

As was said in the news this sick form of murder was being carried out before the air strikes, this horrific crime was inevitable unfortunately!.so don't give them the publicity to fuel their cause!!. RIP.

Saudi Arabia beheaded 19 people in August alone - has keeping quiet about this and not reporting the facts helped stop this barbaric practice?

As barbaric as it is, the difference is that it is enshrined in Saudia Arabia's laws, whereas IS is playing a cat and mouse game with the West and is not abiding by any laws, just using beheading as a shock tactic which seems to be working for them...

You could also argue that the death penalty in the US in certain states is just as barbaric when lethal injections and/or electrocutions go wrong.

It's all bad in my book but while we are dependent on oil from SA and they are considered an ally, no government is going to take them to task on this.

The UK's biggest sales of arms are to countries in the Middle East. http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/interactive/2012/jul/13/defence-military-uk-arms-exports-mi... We should stay out of it and let these countries clear up the mess in their own region.

There is no evidence that attacking terrorists in foreign countries makes us any safer. Concentrate on defending us from the psychopaths who try to come here, or grow up within us after previous governments encouraged them to set up their foreign bases within Britain.

And, sadly, those misguided do-gooders who choose to travel there do so at their own risk.

I'm sure IS would argue that they are obeying their 'laws' whilst at the same time attempting to set up an 'Islamic State'.  Saudi Arabia does not have a codified legal system - there aren't statutes in the way that we have them in the Uk outlining specific offences and a consequent punishment for those offending against that 'law'.  Instead they have a court system whereby individual judges can decide whether or not an individuals actions 'offends' against their personal interpretation of Islamic Law and decide the penalty to be imposed.

Saudi Arabia has to be one of the most extremist radical states in the Middle East with some of the most barbaric practices and institutions on the planet but because they have oil they are tolerated by more civilised countries, Christian, Muslim and secular.  What civilised country would behead someone for sorcery or lash a woman for driving.

The occasional article will appear and human rights group do try to publicise what is happening but in the meantime the West continues to sell them arms and have close diplomatic relations.  Citizens of the West continue to work in Saudi Arabia and Western companies invest in the country - no question of them being called radicalised.

If bombs are capable of stopping the barbaric practices being carried out by IS then maybe the West should be dropping a few on Riyadh!

I can't see any irony - a lot of good and innovative things have come from that 'part of the world' - how is any of that connected to the current situation?
Is it ironic that I use soap or that my daughter plays the guitar - both inventions of the Arabic world - or that my future son-in-law is a maths teacher?
