Mad, ignorant, racist, bigoted egomaniac, Trump seems to have blown his chances of going for the US Presidency.
Breathe a sigh of relief.
Washington (CNN) Donald Trump's statement that Muslims should be banned from entering the United States "disqualifies" him from being president, the White House spokesman said Tuesday.
"The fact is what Donald Trump said yesterday disqualifies him from serving as president," White House press secretary Josh Earnest said in Tuesday's press briefing. For a White House administration to so heavily weigh in on an opposing party's nominating contest is a highly unusual step.
Earnest noted first that every president must take an oath to "preserve, protect and defend" the U.S. Constitution, and thus, he said, Trump would not qualify.
"For Republican candidates for president to stand by their pledge to support Mr. Trump, that in and of itself is disqualifying," Earnest said. "The question now is about the rest of the Republican Party and whether or not they're going to be dragged into the dustbin of history with him. And right now the current trajectory is not very good."
And Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook on Tuesday said -- without hitting the Republican front-runner by name -- that Trump's comments put U.S. national security at risk.
"Anything that bolsters ISIL's narrative and pits the United States against the Muslim faith is certainly not only contrary to our values but contrary to our national security."
He also said that there are "many men and women in uniform today of Muslim faith who are serving this country patriotically."
The U.S. is working with Muslim nations right now, Cook noted. "We want to, in essence, take the fight to ISIL with the help of Muslims around the world."

Do you REALLY believe that!
WHat of those Muslim clerics who preach hate or anti gay chants at football matches - that OK? Just let them get on with it?
Yes I do believe in the right to freedom of speech in this country. Of course some people use that right to be offensive, but none of us have the right not to be offended by someone else's freedom of speech otherwise the whole idea of that freedom falls flat.
What the extremist Muslim clerics are preaching constitutes hate speech and they are quite rightly prosecuted for it, same goes for the anti-gay chanting you referred to where offenders have been identified. I listened to a number of Donald Trump's outbursts and I don't recall him actually expressing any hatred for Muslims, what he is saying is that he wants the US to prevent any more entering the country. That may be offensive to some, it may also be divisive but he has the same right as anyone else to express his views.
If truth be told, there are probably tens of thousands in the West in general and in the UK in particular who covertly agree with his views but nobody sticks their heads up above the parapets these days do they? Personally I have never thought that the tenets of Islam are compatible with Western values, but it's far too late to do anything about it now. They are here in their millions and here to stay, all we can do is try and get along. But we don't have to like it.

Muslims in this country do not want integration..they want domination. That aim has been openly declared by Anjem Choudhary, who intends to see the black flag of Islam flying over Downing Street.
And recent reported events seem to support that. The teaching of Anti-gay and anti-Jewish , and misogynistic propaganda at Private schools, the convictions of gangs of Pakistani men of prolonged sexual abuse of young girls, and the brazen abuse of the postal vote system in the recent by-election....they are not attempting to integrate..they are following their own rules.

This"brazen abuse of the postal vote system in the recent by-election" Is it being investigated? as Farage says he has it from impeccable source that the election was rigged! personally i blame the EU and immigrants

So you can name six, possibly a dozen people whose actions support your argument and from that declare that over two million others are the same - pure Trumpism!

All I can see in that reply is double standards! Freedom of speech is fine so long as you agree with what's being said.
Anti-gay chanting from football fans which normally consists of things like, "Does your boyfriend know you're here" or "We can see you holding hands" should be stopped whilst statements by an internationally reported figure such as DT are OK irrespective of who they offend.
Let me be clear - I'm not in favour of repressing what DT says, the more he is reported the more ridiculous he appears - the same would apply if a UK politician made similar statements in this country - I am however in favour of saying we have enough idiots of our own in this country without allowing the likes of Trump in as well.

You're the one who brought up the anti-gay chanting issue, that doesn't bother me one way or the other but I'm not gay. I can see that gay people would find it offensive but saying "Does your boyfriend know you're here" is hardly a threat to anyones life. Islamist hate preachers on the other hand make a habit of attacking our values and threatening our way of life. I know which I find the most seriously offensive but nevertheless both our against the law of the land so no double standards there.
Donald Trump on the other hand expressed his opinion not in the UK but in his own country, I don't see why people are so incensed by it. As you say each time he opens his mouth he looks more and more ridiculous and his words carry little weight with anyone, but that doesn't mean we should deny him his right to speak freely.

It is not 'Trumpism'. I do not support Trump, nor agree with his words. If you read my post above, I mentioned that I have a friend in the US who has told me that a whole lot of people over there agree with a lot of what he says.
And as for the instances that I mentioned in my post, you can also count in the hundreds who have left to go to Syria. Leaving to fight in Syria doesn't look much like integration to me. Open your eyes...look around you.

I would think that 95% of people would think DT is over the top, it would be shortsighted to immagine immigration in all forms not just muslims will eventually have a detrimental effect on the uk.

I don't like what Trump said, but I defend his right to say it. Free speech is important and people should grow thicker skins. What happened to sticks and stones etc? We do not have the right to not be offended. People disagree all the time and statements such as those made by Trump can open a debate and certain situations do need debating. Inciting violence, trying to 'rally an army' to take physical action that kills people is one thing. Suggesting border controls is another...unworkable and stupid perhaps, but not lethal.
i was born in Germany, though I am British, English father. I have been called a nazi by various individuals throughout my life. In Scotland, as an English person, I have been told to get back to where I belong and that as an English person, despite having lived up here since I was 18, I have no right to opine on things Scottish. Those words have said more about the speakers than about me.
Trump is is letting people know what he believes. He is voicing the thoughts many have. They may be misguided, impractical, unfair, but unless the subjects are debated openly, minds cannot be changed.
12-12-2015 1:29 PM
I agree with you entirely Lynda, We should learn to accept the opinions of others and allow all to express their views. I also understand the need for some controls on hate speech but using the race act to gag people rather than addressing concerns is flawed.

Someone said to astro at #46 ''pure Trumpism! '' Sorry forget his name. But the clue is some do protest too much
Astro has replied at #49: ''It is not Trumpism. I do not support trump'' That's her reply. And as honest as ever.
Strikes me that some on here should not be so damn rude.

I'm more worried about about ill-informed wingnuts electing a genocidal maniac - in the US or Europe - as a result of being bombarded with Fox News, screeching tabloid headlines and "Britain First"-type propaganda on social media.
Suggesting Anjem Choudary is representative of "Muslims" is like saying Jimmy Saville is representative of "pensioners".

Two Boston men were charged Wednesday in the beating of a homeless Mexican man. The victim was allegedly sleeping outside a subway station when brothers Scott and Steve Leader rummaged through his things, then started beating him around the face and neck and hitting him with a metal pole. One witness heard the brothers laughing as they walked away.
Here's what police say Scott Leader told them to justify the assault: "Donald Trump was right — all these illegals need to be deported."
Here's what Donald Trump said when told about the alleged assault:
"I haven't heard about that. It would be a shame, but I haven't heard about that." Then the crowd buzzed, and Trump added: "I will say that people who are following me are very passionate. They love this country and they want this country to be great again. They are passionate. I will say that, and everybody here has reported it."
Another major setback for Trump, he's been barred from the Lakota nightclub in Bristol:
Donald Trump has been banned from Lakota

"Muslims in this country do not want integration..they want domination. "
IS a Trumpism and had he used those exact words few would have been surprised.
Again you are associating the actions of "the hundreds who have left to go to Syria . . . ." with millions who live in this country.
Thousands, maybe millions of British get drunk on a Saturday night - are the British a nation of drunkards?

He is delusional and seems to have a very inflated sense of his own importance and abilities. He brags about what a nice, smart, rich and beautiful guy he is. “My fingers are long and beautiful, as, it has been well documented, are various other parts of my body.”
Hardly relevant to being a good politician. Sounds like he has some sort of personality disorder to me.
I saw him on an interview, and when asked if he was a bigot he replied that he was the least bigoted person she (the interviewer) would ever meet.
Then during a CNN interview on Wednesday night as he faced worldwide condemnation for his comments, Mr Trump said: 'I am the least racist person that you have ever met.'
Really?
He publically mocked a disabled reporter, but then denies even knowing the reporter he was impersonating. “Despite having one of the all-time great memories, I certainly do not remember him.”
The reporter says that he and trump were on a first name basis for years.
http://fox6now.com/2015/11/27/donald-trump-under-fire-for-mocking-disabled-new-york-times-reporter/
How can he deny, from this video, that he was not mocking the reporter's disability? I wonder what a psychiatrist would make of him.
