They did but only 30 out of 5 million could make it the rest were busy on that day.
Yes, arty. And some will remember this:
Sunday, 16 February 2003. A million MARCH against Iraq war. Police said it was UK'S biggest ever demonstration with at least 750,000 taking part, although organises put the figure closer to two million. Yes, that's a MARCH.
That's the reason I resent the passive - aggressive message from Corbyn's pacifist stance that implies it's all our fault in the first place. Our people did NOT want the damn war. Our leaders (Blair & Co, did).
Google 'million march against Iraq war' if you need more information? See you.
A bit of an 'own goal'!
That march was organised by the Stop the War Coalition, CND and the Muslim Association of Britain.
Jeremy Corbyn is Vice Chair of CND.
Jeremy Corbyn is National Chairman of Stop the War Coalition

The Middle East has been in turmoil for years, it's troubles significantly pre-date messrs Bush and Blair and there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that if we turned back the clock things would not, in time, have reached a similar level to that we now face.
So how should we defend ourselves, why must we bow to the pc brigade and above all are we not entitled to a say in how we live our lives? I am heartily sick at being dictated to by one minority view or another and by people who have contributed nothing to our society regardless of their religion or ethnicity. People who come here in peace and contribute to society fine, those whocome to murder and terrorise should be given no quarter, they should forfeit any right to being treated in a humane way.

I'm trying to think of where or how I have had to 'bow to the pc brgade'.
As for being 'dictated to by one minority view or another' then I am at a loss to think what you are getting at - sure there are lots of minorities, lots of views held by them, but 'dictated to'. ???

Creeky you don't have to engage brain to find examples, just put a few ordinary words on a forum and they get replaced by a bleep. Offensive logos on Jam, Chairman- Chairwoman- Chairperson- Chair, Pride rallies. It is everywhere.
I'm not going to bore people with an endless list.

This is very true.^^^
A good example is what transpired after Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974 and took control of the northern part of the island.
All the Mosques that are in the southern part of the island the part that is still under the Greek Cypriots [Greek Orthodox Christians]have never been touched, infact the Cypriots maintain and have people guarding these Mosques so nothing happens to them.
But in the northern part the churches some which date back to the beginnings of Christianity have all been desecrated, looted and all the religious icons and artifacts sold by the Turks.
They removed all the crosses from the top of the churches and use them to stable cows and goats.
Turkey incidentally is considered a moderate Muslim country by the Arab countries.

Politicians depress the hell out of me, we all vote for these slimy, two bit, second hand car salesman types; who make a bee line for a Baby to kiss, at public engagements, while looking people in the eye and lying through their teeth. As the words of the Beatles song goes " there is room at the top they are telling me still, but first you must learn how to smile as you kill ". As for exit strategies, that's like trying to find the exit from a Maze; before you've even walked in the entrance and got right into the middle of it. Chances are, you'll get lost before you even get to the root of the problem and end up cutting a hole in the wall to get out............Brilliant.............. why didn't I spend a life getting highly educated, articulate and a super success in business..........then I could have thought of that. I blame myself as well, I go down to the polling booth and am corralled into choosing between a Robot, a Numpty, a remnant of pond life, or a megalomaniac..............." GORDON BENNETT ". Oh but there are benefits, yes indeed there are......they send my Son, or Daughter, off to far flung corners of the World, to impose our way of life on others and I get them back, with no Arms or Legs; if I get them back at all................and all while the second hand Car salesmen, go back to their cosy little Houses and Families every night and have the arduous task of filling out their expense claims..............how civilized we all are.

I accept the above and I guess you could say I 'bow down' to such restrictions - of course I do have the option of ignoring them.
Doesn't bother me as I'm rarely affected - also don't see how Pride Rallies fits in with the description of being PC.
More relevant in the context of this thread however is the oft claimed idea that we are dictated to by minorities - when was the last time a minority group dictated your behaviour in any meaningful way?

Really a different topic but you are right - our current political system encourages short term populist views which end up causing the sort of situation we find ourselves in.
I've stated many times that I believe that the political parties of candidates at elections should not be printed on ballot papers. If we voted for the person we thought could best represent us rather than for a party we might end up with politicians that look to their electorate for approval rather than their party leaders.
19-11-2015 10:01 PM
Not such a different topic, it goes to the root of where all the current problems under discussion stem from.
19-11-2015 10:04 PM
Although remonstrating about how one gets into a certain predicament may make one feel better, but it doesn't address the problem of how to get out of it.

I have friends, She is a devout christian ( church every Sunday, the odd pilgrimage and bible groups etc. etc. ) her Husband is a non believer, never goes to church and does his thing, when she goes off to do Her stuff etc. etc. She doesn't mind at all, loves him to bits and doesn't try to shove it down his throat or scoff at him for HIS lack of belief.........they get on like a house on fire and have done for years. Islam, on the other hand, is more a "Way of life" ,can you imagine that scenario in a Muslim family; never in a million years. So given the fact that the two religions are such poles apart, why on earth would Muslims want to come here; instead of another Country where Islam is the predominant religion. Added to that, is the fact that I am not aware that many other predominantly Muslim Countries haven't exactly welcomed their brothers with open Arms; given that most of them appear to want to kill each other anyway ie. Shia / Sunni etc. etc. Yet WE......the infidels.....the lowest of the low non believers etc. etc. are supposed to show the tolerance and understanding that others, of the same faith, appear not to be able to. If it wasn't so stupidly, hilariously funny.........it would be sad beyond belief.
Well said.
I thought I heard that the Saudis don't take any refugees? Yet they have offered to build 200 Mosques in Germany. Perhaps they should take migrants rather than helping them live in Europe? I would suggest that they forget the 200 Mosques, and hand over the money for 200 houses. (well thousands perhaps) Well these Mosques are much more expensive than houses. Is religion deemed more important than a home? And are their many churches in Saudi Arabia?
Just wondered.
See you later.

"...Christianity is one of the most tolerant religions..."
Hmm...I would agree with you tommy, to a degree. True, we've never been in the habit of blowing ourselves up, but over the centuries what with converting by force the Mayas and the Aztecs, the Holy Inquisition, the Crusaders ( really nasty piece of work) etc etc , the list is endless !
Buddhism on the other hand...there's a religion for you ! No conflict or war ever caused because of the them...and before any kind soul mentions the Japanese, I believe their religion was, and is, Shinto !

I think your first para has already been conceded by the words in brackets that followed the bit you quoted.

Did anyone see Newsnight yesterday? Andrew Neil had some choice words to say to ISIS at the start of the programme.

Question Time on the other hand was a complete shambles. Anna Soubry, Andy Burnham and former Al Jazeera journalist Mehdi Hassan spent most of the program shouting over each other and everyone else, the audience hardly got a look in. What a bleddy rude bunch of know alls.

Hmm - concede Japan, despite nearly a third of the population identifying themselves as Buddhist - however Burma is a totally different case.
