A woman has spoken of her surprise at finding a £5 note tucked into a box of eggs as a New Year's gift from a mystery benefactor.
Lauren Scouse found the money with a note attached when she bought the eggs at a Tesco store in Southsea, Hampshire.
The note said: "Happy New Year. May it be full of health, peace and prosperity."
The mother of two told the Portsmouth News: "I thought it was lovely and it's so nice knowing that someone has done that without knowing who it was going to.
"I know it's only £5 and it's not a life-changing amount of money but it was really kind."

In Winter, we always had Scouse for tea on Mondays.

Now I've mentioned it, I just fancy some.
I guess there's many recipes for scouse but we had it on Mondays to use up the Beef left over from Sunday.
Mother used to boil potatoes, carrots, onion and celery (what was left from Sunday tea) with the Beef and add pepper and Oxo cubes.
We used to have home-made pickled Red Cabbage (which was spicy) and I used to have lots of that and a thick slice of buttered bread to dip in , mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I know the point of this thread was so you could mention your favourite 'S' word, Arfur LOL but going off topic for a second to the actual content of that link about the £5 note being left in the eggs, has anyone else been hearing a lot about this kind of stuff recently?
I believe it's called 'Paying it Forward' by performing random acts of kindness for strangers:
I read an article the other day in which Davina McCall was saying that sometimes she just randomly pays the toll charge for the car behind her or she pays for someone else's meal in a McDonalds drive through.,,,how bizarre?
It doesn't have to be financial kindnesses either, some people are just leaving inspirational notes for others to find on public transport or in shops and restaurants etc.
I've never done it myself, but I must admit, I think it's quite sweet TBH

I think it's a lovely idea. I might do it myself. Not financially though.

I might give it a go aswell, Patch... although knowing me, I'd want to stick around to see who found it and if they didn't look suitably impressed, I'd march over and snatch it back LOL..just kidding

In Liverpool, some visitors leave cars lying around in silly places like streets and car parks.
The locals always appreciate these generous gestures.

Another example of paying it forward in todays Mail:
