Re: Social Distancing

Hmm not sure how this would work.  Just had a phone call from the builders saying materials being delivered tomorrow and i will need to sign for them...and asked them IF we went into total lockdown say tomorrow will they still come on Wednesday?.....  he said YES.   Would they even be allowed to?

Re: Social Distancing

This isn't ebay related so I expect this will be removed but PLEASE  people be mindful of others when you are out walking.  I am self isolating and go out just for a half hour walk each day.  The start of the walk is quite a narrow pavement with railings and water, on the other side of the busy road there is no pavement.  A couple coming towards me with their buggy continued side by side with no way for me to avoid them.  They could so easily have walked passed me, one in front of the other, to give me clearance.

Thank you.

Re: Social Distancing

I know what you mean.

I myself am trying to avoid ANY CONTACT with ANYBODY.

But I am one of those that has to go & get food / shoppoing for my Mother who is in a high risk catagory.

I picked up some bits for her yesterday.

But to be honest, it feels like I am "PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE" with the amount of people in supermarkets crowding with each other.

Don't know what to do for the best in that respect.

Re: Social Distancing

Still way too many people out there who think this is just a bad dose of flu. I'm in the high-risk category, living in an area of high-risk residents and we're working on handling 12 weeks of self-isolation starting on Monday. If it wasn't so serious the sight of two or three of us trying have a conversation and keep a safe distance apart would be hysterical because we're all going deaf - I have bi-aural hearing aids.

You take care of yourself now.

Re: Social Distancing

Smiley Sad

It's so hard.  After my little encounter with the couple I was then walking along an embankment which is wide enough to give people clearance and three teenagers walking abreast came towards me.  I asked them politely if they would mind moving aside to give me some space and they just looked at me like I was mad.  Mind you they did move if only for that reason laughing

Top tip: carry a bell and shout "unclean! unclean!" when anyone approaches, I guarantee people will give you wide berth.

I love it!! I might well do that.  I still have my old cow bell that I used to wear around my neck in the 60s!

Thanks for making me laugh Smiley LOL

We all need those weird plastic balls that you get in and roll around.

Not sure how practical it would be in a supermarket though.

Re: Social Distancing

Total lockdown here in Athens, as of 06.00 this morning !

If you want to leave your house, you send an sms to a 5-digit number stating reasons 1-6 outlined on the platform, and wait for a reply basically stating "Free to move". Having your mobile, with this msg, along with an ID are essential if the police, now patrolling the streets, stop you. For first offenders, found without the aforementioned, the fine is €150.

Life as we now know it ! Still...perfect opportunity for now digging the weeds out of my garden !laughing

Re: Social Distancing

I kept away from the only other person in our corner shop this morning. After paying for my items I turned and there was a woman RIGHT there!

It really is not getting through to people.

I'm now staying away from the supermarket as I'm with 92 & 89 year old parents both with underlying health condiitons (luckily I've got siblings & a niece who can still shop for us but will leave stuff at the door, etc)

Stay safe everyone.

Re: Social Distancing

People on a local FB group are going mad at other parents......close to us is a large park with a museum and golf course etc etc

Parents just appear to be sending their kids over the park  (in groups of 10 to 20 aged around 10 -16).   Just hanging around together socialising.    For once Boris may have a point.    Our local parks are heaving with kids and parents.

I just hope Boris hangs fire till the week end.   Wednesday we are expecting to have some rather urgent building work done on our house and Thursday work on the car and MOT.   Yes, selfish i know but both are rather urgent 😞  We cannot do without a car.

Bloomin' ridiculous. People are acting like it's a holiday.

For similar selfish reasons, I'm with you about holding back till the weekend. Hubby's & my landlords served a section 21 on us because they wanted to sell their house (don't see that happening any time soon in the current climate), so we're supposed to be moving house on Wednesday. Don't fancy having to self isolate in the old house, while paying 2 lots of rent.unamused

Re: Social Distancing

I think the only way that this is going to work is a total lockdown with curfews - l realise lots of people won't agree with me.

However so many people are ignorant of the situation or just plain dumb and won't adhere to being sensible. In some respects it would have been so much better if we'd been invaded by aliens as at least we could see them and everyone would be united in fighting them together. As it is we have many of the younger generation sticking two fingers up as they were led to believe they were unlikely to be seriously ill. I've noticed there is less said now about how it only affects older people and more is being said about how youngsters are at risk too.

We say go out and keep a 2 meter distance - so who can really blame families going to the country to walk - but then you realise there are now so many of us there as well that it's crowded beyond belief.

In my village one pub was still open last night and is getting real stick on social media - the landlord insists it was his family in the bar and he was sending out takeaways and he's totally innocent! - What do you do - the police say it is out of their hands as they have no authority to deal with it?

Re: Social Distancing

Ahhhhhh i see your location is very close to mine 🙂

I am so trying not to overthink the media now reporting that we are a hot spot.....after London.

From what i can see around by me....a lot are just carrying on as normal

Not quite Wolverhampton - but know what you mean.

Not sure how we can carry on as normal - it's anything but as it stands.

Just to add to my previous post...

When I read things like this I realise what a lot of inbreds we have created over the last 20 years!
