Independence referendum should be on the table because Scotland only voted to stay in the UK because they were promised they would not be taken out of the EU.

Well Nicola, I have news for you ! I and many other Scots did NOT vote to stay in the UK because we were promised we would not be taken out of the EU !

We voted to stay in the UK because we knew Scotland could never make it on our own.

Now you want to ignore the voters who voted to saty in the UK because you do not want a government south of the border suggesting what we should do and hand the reins over to a conglomerate of countrys who will dictate what we WILL do.

Get real woman and stand by the DEMOCRATIC decision that was made and help to stabilise the UK and push us forward to become a force in the worlds economy.

I can't remember whether it was the BBC or ITV Euro programme last night - because someone here kept switching channels - but what was his (Salmond) bloated and smirking face doing on the panel of experts ? Like or lump it it's gonna happen. 62% of the Scottish people voted to stay in EU. What gives you the right to annex Scotand when the majority want trade with Europe directly. That baffoon Boris the Karloff and that bumbling fool Farage couldnae run a tuck shop far less negotiate worldwide trade deals,get a grip!

The UK is more divided now than it ever was during a Scottish Ref and you can blame Westminster for that- suck ma boab

Now the papers are saying "Scotland wants a 2nd independence referendum", that is a lie !

Who wants a 2nd referendum is bloody Sturgeon, Salmond and the SNP because that is all they are interested in. All I and many other Scots I know want is to stay within the UK and try to help sort things out after the exit vote from the EU.

Now is the time for all nations within the UK to unite even more and make this country stronger.

Nicola Sturgeon stated after the 2014 referendum and it is in the public domain " I promise a 2nd independence referendum will not be staged for a generation".

Yet TWO years on she stands in front of the cameras and states a 2nd referendum should be on the table.

Now if that is not downright lying I do not know what is !

I know she does not have the legal or political right to call for a 2nd referendum but her and her cronies are just going to add more instability to this country and cause even more divisions when we should be closing ranks and UNITING even more.

The clue is in the name, Scottish National Party.

It's her and her party's fundamental aim, and like all politicians they try to be opportunistic when the chance presents itself.

The evidence is not in her favour though with polls showing less support than the referendum result. The oil price being so low does not help their economic case either.

Examples worldwide show that most independence movements get two shots at it. They have already used one and she will not call another unless evidence shows that she will win and that is not what is showing now.

2020, another Tory government, poor performance from the UK outside the EU, increase in oil prices...   Maybe.  As things stand now there is no chance.

Let her have her referendum..and if she gets her way and they do stay in Europe, then so be it. I always thought the Scots had pride.....they are Celts......but they won't have much left when they are kow towing to Brussels, with their little hands stretched out for donations. Their fight for independence is more about being separated from England , particularly Westminster, than being an independent country. They have never forgotten how the English subdued them. They would prefer to be under the yoke of Brussels. Let them go.
