A new Prime Minister in the offing?.

I'd like to see someone honest and trustworthy, who realises the government is there to serve us and not the other way round, and will do a good job and not interfere where they are not needed.  Can't think of anyone

Not surprising you can't think of anyone if you're looking for an honest politician.Woman LOL

I don't see how you can have a Captain of a Ship, that's steering it in a direction He / She didn't want to go.  We need a leader who's at least wholeheartedly behind the direction the majority of this country want to go in.  Me and I presume the majority of other Brits. don't like being taken for a ride and lied to.  That includes signing up to an idea and then having self serving bureaucrats changing it ( nice and slowly over many years, so they think we won't notice ).......so it then becomes nothing resembling the original thing we signed up for..........I think that point, if nothing else, has now been made and all politicians; including our next leader, better heed it well.

Go to a football match, watch your team get beat then blame the Ref.
It is true that a close victory has been won, 33 ml people roughly 50 % of our living population have made their position clear. We will honour it, make the best of it and hopefully benefit from it. I asked this once before to no avail so will try again. When does repatriation start?

I think Comedy Dave should take Mister Sillyface with him. In fact he should pack in politics altogether, and go on the Comedy Circuit. Another clown.  As for the next PM, if he'd still been around, I'd have said Screaming Lord Sutch, because surely he'd have made a better job of it than any of the above. And he was an honest man. So it's either Boris the Spider, Michael Gove, IDS, Missus May, or perhaps someone further down the chain of command, I assume.

Personally IMO, I think Nigel Farage should be the next person to go in there and measure up for new curtains, but apparently he doesn't want the job. As for the latter day hippy, bro Corbyn, well he's got as much chance as me or anyone else winning one of David Dickinson's 'Real Deal' prizes, and moving his IKEA furniture into Number 10. Better if he went out and hugged a few trees because, IMO again, I think his days are numbered....so,....*shrugs shoulders*

Good posting above, Evoman. *sniggers at Marg @ #3*

Your analogy was not quite fair, or accurate, to be honest..........you may have gone to a football match to watch YOUR team ( quote ) but YOUR team also happens to have been the REFS team.........under that scenario, the ref. shouldn't have been the ref. in the first place.........and if he was, he shouldn't have taken sides.  As for the repatriation question, I really don't see boatloads, or planeloads, of immigrants being shipped out; but tracking down the tens of thousands of ILLEGALS might be a good start...........and ANYBODY found to be employing them. I actually voted out for several reasons, immigration ( or at least being able to control it ) was only one of them.

So we remain at 65 ml and rising chasing illegals then bailing them to appear which they don't.
I was under the impression that we would limit all immigration, show our teeth and get shut of the workers filling in for our own idle youth culture most of whom get funded by mum and dad,

I think Theresa May is the right man for the job, definitely the most experienced. And I know it's not the only issue but she certainly knows her way around Immigration Law

Arch........If I didn't know better, I'd say you have acquired a real belligerent and intransigent attitude to all this; the sort that wants to see us fail and has no intention of trying to help this country succeed..........not the next prime minister then.Smiley Indifferent

Whilst he was in the 'Remain' camp. we could do a lot worse than to have Philip Hammond as someone who has the ability to cool things down and who I think (hope) would do the best for the UK that he could.

I have concerns but I really want the best we can get. The fallout in Scotland and Ulster are not good but there are undoubtedly opportunities providing we have the right person in place at the table, right now I know no senior politician able to repair the fissure created and who will rejuvenate our shrinking nation.

Archie - have faith.

Sometimes it's necessary to take tough action to get rid of the rot, and it takes time to heal and grow anew, but it can and I believe, will be done.

As long as the wrong people hold sway with the power, it blocks the sunlight shining on those who would serve us much better.

It's far too early and it's only understandable that you and others who wanted to remain, and others who didn't know how to vote, and likely even many of those who took the plunge to leave, are feeling scared and very concerned for the future.

Be kind to yourself, we all need to be kind to each other in the UK and make sure that those who are really responsible for this outcome are reminded of the damage they have done with their arrogance and bullying.

Then, give it time, and let us see now just how far we can stretch ourselves to carve out a new future.

In fairness Arch, I'm not particularly enamoured by the choice of characters either.......Charismatic.........Dynamic........Strong ( determined ) are not exactly descriptive words I would attribute to any of them.........but isn't that more to do with the kind of people who go into politics.Smiley Frustrated

Nice post Aerne, I am ever the optimist and not too pig headed to believe that I am either right or blessed with the foresight to know what will happen. As we leap into this new and unknown adventure it is already evident that promises on both sides will not be honoured. This evening one prominent leave campaigner said that there will be no repatriation of immigrants, is that what many voted for? we will get immigration under control but no timetable given or means of acheiving it. now that smells like a con to me.

And to Evo I hope the white cliffs look a little whiter now and given the way the French did all they could to restrict the UK influence in Europe I wonder why or when that attitude might change? My guess is it won't.

We have two under construction, one almost ready for sea trials. The French carrier seems to spend most of it's time in refit. I rather agree let them look after themselves for a change because there has never been any acknowledgement when we have waded in to support them.

Do you know what depresses me more than anything, through all this referendum, the lead up to it and the aftermath; It's the concept so many people have of what democracy is.  From the now " snivelling" younger generation, saying how the older generation shouldn't have the right to determine and possibly ruin their futures.........when they've been quite happy to sponge off of them and use them as crutches, for most of their inexperienced lives. So that's the snivelling wretches idea of democracy is it, god forbid when it is eventually left in their hands.

The Scots......when we had a general election and the labour vote was all but wiped out in Scotland, that was great.  Their beloved SNP took power and control and they got what they wanted.  Now we have a referendum, one person one vote ( can't get fairer than that...........many would like to see general elections run like that ) and they don't get what they want.....they want independence. That's their idea of democracy is it.........OK when it goes your way.......don't want it when it doesn't.  You have to ask yourself if they EVER felt BRITISH and united with the rest of us, with an attitude like that. Democracy is fine, when accepted in its entirely, but too often it's talked about, but not practiced, by those who shout about it the loudest.
