Musical Mug

I have this  mug on the mug rack which plays a tune when picked up.

But it keeps playing now and again without being touched.

How can I switch this thing off without damaging the mug.

Re: Musical Mug

If it's a mechanical one, the simple way is to hang it up and let it completely run down.

Otherwise, remove the battery?

Re: Musical Mug

They very often start up because of light change, the only way to stop em is to put them in a dark place. ie a dustbin, bloomin things! lol.

Re: Musical Mug

my sister had one which belonged to my mum and when she died my sister put it on her shelf in her kitchen and for years every now and then it started playing . she was convinced it was mum talking to her.... we never did find out how to stop it .i think after about 11 years it got smashed.

Re: Musical Mug

Got it sorted now.

The mug was indented at the bottom with a plastic piece in the indent.

I prised this off to find the battery and player attached to it.

I disconnected the battery and chucked the whole plastic piece in the rubbish bag

Even though I thought I had disconnected the battery, it was still playing as I dropped the bag down the chute.

Don`t know what the caretaker will make of it.

Re: Musical Mug

We had a candle like that.

It would "sing" Happy Birthday when it was lit.

We used it for many years on all of the birthday cakes in the family.

Sort of like a quirky tradition.

No birthday celebration was complete without the candle.

Over the years, it started to malfunction and it would just sing at all random times.

Well, March being Birthday Month in the Crikey family, we gave that candle a real workout and it was left sort of around the place in various spots in between birthdays (5 in 10 days)

rarely singing on cue

but randomly singing throughout the day.

The Crikey K9 ATE THE BLOODY CANDLE!

I reckon I'd damn near wet my pants if it turned itself on inside the dog!

when we first got Lithium we had whole threads dedicated to bleep words

I wonder if we all have the same bleep words seeing as we all are using Lithium software? (aren't you? I never checked LOL)

hmmm

**bleep** Cat, **bleep** Cat

Where have you been?

I've been up to london

to visit the Queen.

Some murderers have used arsenic to poison their victims

I really enjoyed watching Dick Van **bleep** in Mary Poppins (and I think that was a musical, so almost on topic)

and during disputes, there is often a lot of tit for tat

nope - you have dif filters to us!

some are the same.

we get bleeped for

the first part of cat (like you) WT???? It's a famous English Nursery Rhyme! I can hear the Queen now "We are NOT amused!"

the first part of arsenic so it will be **bleep**nic

and the guy from Mary Poppins - we get bleeped on his first name (though I spose you guys couldn't or in the "What's for dinner?" thread you would get

"Tonight I had spotted **bleep** for dinner

we can say his surname tho

and we get **bleep** for tat

we can say boobies

and correct anatomical terms are often bleeped
