Why do the advertisers of cars always show cars with reg plates that don't clarify the cars age and also usually show a reversible type of number/letter set up. For example, MOM 151.

Just curious.

So that you can't trace the true owner and harrass them or if the car is at a dealers, contact the owner direct cutting the dealer out of the bargain?

Maybe they haven't verified if the car is stolen yet? (in a car yard)

A Dealership might be issued with a few sets of specific plates to use whilst they have the car, or if it is oput of rego kind of thing, like a temporary rego.

Over here in aus, lots of cars that don't have their real rego as they've run out/been in the car yard for a while, the dealers have special plates they can use for test drives, so the car is sort of registered iykwim.

same for new cars that have never been sold yet.

they have those plates here in the UK diamond. Commonly referred to as trade plates, they are red and white with the licence triangular in a holder on top of the front plate.

ours are kind of square

6" x 6"

maybe a bit bigger

colours change depending what batch they're up to and vary from state to state

I'm in Queensland

ours are currently maroon on white

used to be green on white tho

3 numbers up the top

3 letters down the bottom

That's odd.
