Never in a way you brexiters thought it would. All the chamelons have been exposed, tight majority vote.Country and goverment in chaos.
It's the money men that will decide as always! What made you think they'd let the people decide-never have done in centuries!

Archie..if you heard the speech, you would see that dragging it out is the very last thing Bill Cash wants to do. I would think that personal vanity would not be on his agenda.

Never said such a thing. I never said money raised just from income tax was equal or greater than public expenditure .
GERS is a Westminster concept produced paper designed to show Scotland as a basket case and adds all sorts of nonsense expenditure that is not spent in Scotland to skew the figures. This has been going on for years since Ian Lang introduced it.
Income tax raised is just a part of it. All i said was income tax raised is more than the cash flow budget given backin Barnett formula.. We want to do it by ourself- that's what indepenence is about. You wouldn't like it if your next door neighbour borrowed money for his new car in your name but you weren't allowed to drive it -but you'll pay back all the repayments + interest, now would you!.
That’s a nonsense comparison though! Apples and oranges if you like - a comparison that actually does Scotland no favours!
If you want to work on that basis then it should be noted that income tax revenue per head in Scotland is 23% lower than it is in the rest of UK.
Maybe you don’t think that the UK has a debt which has to be serviced - doesn’t have a diplomatic service that costs money - intelligence services, payments to the EU, etc.
Using your comparison all the regions of the UK apart from NI are worse off than Scotland - not only do they pay more in income tax per head but receive less back in terms of public spending under the Barnett formula.

I wasn't comparing like you think. I was merely saying parody analogy some people down south think Scotland sponges off England(aka UK DEFACTO paliament)as if if somehow they have some pot of gold under parliament that they just hand out as pocket money to Scotland to use and then spend more than they get, which is impossible-no? You can't spend what you havevn't got .
Gers charges debateable levies on projects that are not the resposibility of Scotland under Barnett. They will never ever ever declare Scotland with a surplus at any time in the future for obvious reasons.
Scotland can never borrow money like any other country against their GDP -they're hem-tied to UK. That'll hopefully change in time.
So what they send south they get part of it back to run the budget. Tell you what, next paycheck you get send it to me and I'll decide what you get back to pay your bills- how does that sound? ![]()
Scotland pays more than its fair share of debt ,if fact you should be paying us to hold those monstors on faslane.
FACT- GERS IS MINCE - http://www.businessforscotland.com/westminster-charges-scotland-billions-of-pounds-in-service-costs/

Anyhow this is a Brexit thread creeky-not a independence one. Please get back on track.Hows that going then-not very well by the looks of it! ![]()

celtic, can I ask you a question you might be able to answer ? If Nicola Sturgeon accuses the UK government of ignoring the Scottish people because of the Brexit vote, can Nicola Sturgeon not be accused of the same, of ignoring the Scottish people when the majority voted to stay within the UK ?
