Yep....we have had experience of the EU handing out their crumbs..(our own money in the first place! . And precious little good it does. The South Wales valleys are among the poorest areas in the U.K. We voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU. Once we are out of that cesspit, we can then tackle the other ( in Mr Trump's words) swamp in Westminster. 

So, Celtic, would you like to explain why you Scots would prefer to be ruled by Brussels than by Westminster?

In June 2016 Scotland voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU, while the UK as a whole voted to leave. Following the EU referendum, the First Minister made clear that the SNP Scottish government would explore all options to protect Scotland’s place in Europe, including a referendum on independence. If the UK is to leave the EU, we believe the least-worst deal for jobs and living standards would be to stay in the Single Market and Customs Union.

As Scotland’s government, we are using the limited new powers devolved to the Scottish Parliament to their full extent. We also continue to put forward the positive case for Scotland having the power to enact the change that we need, be it powers over social security, our economy, jobs or equality.

We continue to work for democratic reform too. We believe that the House of Lords is an affront to democracy and should be abolished. We will continue to call for the first past the post voting system to be replaced at Westminster with proportional representation, so that every vote and every part of the country counts. We have already extended the franchise in Scottish and local elections to 16 and 17 year olds and will use new powers to protect the voting rights of EU citizens too.

Another thing. The referendum was an English vote IN FACT. Factually there exists a democratic deficit. The other three countries of the UK  cannot under any circumstances outvote the English block-it's impossible. So what did the poor working classes = unions achieve with their mob rule? You only have to think back to the heyday of "the miners". As one drunken miner was being arrested, he said "You can't arrest me. I'm a miner, we're running the country".

So what's happened thereafter? Where's the mines and the miners now?

A long time before that when the British cycle industry was at its peak, a bloke invented machines to build the bikes quicker/cheaper. The industry wasn't interested because they knew what trouble they'd get off "the unions". So what did he do? He sold the idea to China and just look at the quantity of bikes they turned out?

When I worked at Rolls Royce, during a pay "dispute", one of the bosses said "You're pricing yourselves out of a job. We're going to automate you." Just after that, the first of the early "computerised" (plugboard) machines arrived. Just look at CNC machines now? Amazing, reliable, quick and they don't take tea breaks.

How about Austins = BMC = British Leyland? What's on those sites today? Red Robbo and his mates did a good job there?

What's happened to the shipbuilding industry? Birkenhead? Tyneside?

Now we've got the two has-beens Blair and Red Ken conspiring together for heck knows what? Militant was bad enough, now Momentum are infiltrating the Labour Party. Heaven help the country when their self-interest takes hold.......

Thank you for that Celtic. It does set out Scotland's plans and ambitions, but it doesn't explain why you would prefer to be ruled by Brussels, rather than by Westminster. I totally get that Scotland wants Independence from Westminster, but I cannot understand why you would still want to shackle yourselves to the EU. The words 'Nanny' and 'Apron strings' have been used during discussions on this topic previously. In Wales there isn't that great drive for independence..the Welsh Nationalist parties never do that well. 

Personally, I think that we are stronger as a United Kingdom....but that's probably another word that sticks in the craw for you (Kingdom, I mean!). 😀

Astro, I am a Scot and do not want to stay in the EU but I have an idea why the nippie sweetie and all her sheep want to stay in the EU ! It gives her someone else to blame when the proverbial hits the fan instead of her taking the blame when she makes a complete mess of things as she will do for sure.

I know exactly what I mean by Tories (by that I don't mean Conservatives), know Your History, they are the real Jacobite party, which made the NATs wearing White Roses to Westminster absolutely hilarious. Rees Mogg and loads of His bunch are old Tories, as is the PM.

I quite like the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party - voted for them a few times, but have also voted for Labour and the Lib Dems in various elections.

My vote is for whoever can stop the NATs in that specific election
