Anne Maguire murder.

Will Cornick the teenager was 15 years old when he stabbed teacher Ann Maguire,61, to death as she taught at a class at Corpus Christi Catholic Colledge, in leeds in April.

He excchanged messages with a friend early on Christmas day on Facebook. ''In those messages he spoke of 'brutally killing' Mrs Maguire and spending the rest of his life in jail so as not to have to worry about life or money.''

He continues to show no remorse.  If ever someone was evil it must be him.  The only sentence for him surly is a whole life sentence.

At the moment the judge say's 20 years in prison, and he may serve a whole life sentence. Why give him any hope? He did not give Ann, any. And who should have this monster living next door to them without knowing it?  The judges  perhaps?

Warning there is a picture of Will Cornick on my attachment.

The buzz-word surrounding many "things" in the World today is "Understanding".

People try to "understand" something and settle on what they perceive is the "reason" and come out with all sorts of reasoning about what happened and their take on what to do about it.

There's far too much of this "understanding" because some events cannot be explained rationally because they were irrational happenings by irrational people in the first place.

Take note of the words of the song:-

"They can see no reasons, 'Cause there are no reasons, What reason do you need?"

Which is precisely why such people need to be observed and identified! The understanding is for our benefit so we can prevent future issues. In this case the reason it happened is because he's a psycho; the sad thing is there were many outward signs of this which were not acted upon! We could have had a psycho who was not a murderer rather than one who now is!

If you are going to try to compare stealing a bag of sweets to a murder then I will give you another just as silly.
A dog through no fault of its own & acting on instinct attacks a human & kills them is automatically destroyed!! End of!!.

Absolutely, they are the most dangerous type of dog, one which acts on instinct through no fault of it's own, unpredictable and irrational; just as this psychopath may have been acting on unpredicatable and irrational instinct through no fault of his own!

The stealing of sweets was not a comparison but an illustration; an illustration of how the justice system has to be fair to all, including the offender.

What about the kid that gets laughed at and goes and get a gun and kills his class mates and teacher. How do you stop it??

Nonesense, young people say all sorts of things they have no intention of doing and although that lad said all sorts of things people NOW know he meant, at the time they were passed off as "just another teenage rant".

We are never going to agree on this, you wanna help & understand them, I on the other hand don't want to share air with these morons! What you suggest is impossible to be carried out . The fact remains I am more interested in the victims & justice for them.
A useful life cut short because one object wanted to be the centre of attention , I don't give a rats tail for the reasons or his mental state, what I do care about is that he never gets a chance to do it again, if that means he gets his just desserts at the hands of his fellow inmates , then I hope he feels half the pain & terror he meted out to his victim if that sounds vindictive it was meant to be!
I also am unsure about capital punishment but in some circumstances & if proven without doubt& with today's forensics there is less chance of a mistake being made, then so be it!!.

Other than making it harder to get hold of a gun the answer is 'with great difficulty'. However in this case the lad has told others of his fantacies, it was not a spur of the moment thing. His anger and hate issues had been recognised but not acted upon!

We don't scrutinise all and sundry to guard against terrorist plots but once we witness things that can be identified as planning or behaviour that is suspicious or threatening it gets acted upon. His behaviour should have been acted upon!

There can never be too much understanding, surely.   The act does not have to be rational.  We can still gain understanding about how humans tick and what tips them over from thoughts to actions.

Maybe the teenagers you know!

So rather than take note of the signs that were blatently displayed you'd rather excuse the lack of preventative action on a notion that "young people say all sorts of things"!

This is from the Judiciary summary:

"However, as he advanced through his teenage years, it
became apparent to some of his friends that his personality
was disturbed"

"He spoke to a number of his friends
about killing her and at least one other teacher at the
school."

"He told them he had taken to carrying a knife"

"By Christmas 2013 it was apparent to Mr Cornick’s mother
that her son had a problem with Mrs Maguire"

"he was exchanging messages with
a friend on Facebook in which he spoke of “brutally killing”
Mrs Maguire and then spending the rest of his life in jail."

"These angry feelings led to a confrontation of a sort with
Mrs Maguire in February 2014 when the defendant’s hatred
of his teacher was apparent to all those present at a meeting
at the school"

"he sent a message to a friend
on Facebook that said of Ann Maguire:
“…the one absolute **bleep**ing **bleep** that deserves more
than death more than pain torture and more than
anything that we can understand.”"

Now tell me the signs were not there or do we continue with this in the same manner as Baby P or Victoria Climbie where we ignore all the signs, tell ourselves these things can all be explained away and then wonder where it all went wrong and have nothing but sympathy for a situation that should have been prevented?!

You are confusing understanding with sympathising.

Teenagers boosting to their mates is not news.  Teenagers being violent is not news.  But how come some countries have only a handful of youth offenders locked up and we have hundreds?  That would certainly be worth understanding.

Re: Anne Maguire murder.

Many teenagers have gone through "a stage" where someone became the object of their "frustrations" over some minor thing, often related to either some ridicule, a discipline or "telling off". Virtually all didn't act on their irrational thoughts and went on with their lives without a problem. If every one of those had been subjected to some form of "intervention", we'd be left with a lot of very disturbed people.

Some things are beyond comprehension and those who continually try to "understand" the incomprehensible, often drive themselves mad!!.

Re: Anne Maguire murder.

I can assure you I'm confusing nothing, he is a murderer & therefore deserves everything that's thrown at him & more!! The sooner the better!!, let the do gooders make themselves feel good when he's inside & away from harming more potential victims!.
Not once have you shown the same understanding apart from a couple of comments about the victim, I notice the same applies to the others who rush forward to try & find an understanding of this so called human being!!.

I didn't say I want to help them I said we NEED to understand them; for our benefit and their's;  for preventitive measure!
*bleep* suggests a lack of intellect which judging by his attainment at school was not the case. He is a psychopath which means dispite his reasonably high level of intelligence he could not help but present with psychotic issues!
What you suggest is impossible to be carried out .
What is it you perceive me to be suggesting other than to understand what's going on so we can recognise such traits in others. Is this what you regard as impossible?
The fact remains I am more interested in the victims & justice for them.
Perfectly understandable; the interest in the offender is to gain insight, I believe we need to be interested in both victim and offender in such cases. We need to learn. I am sure you appreciate that if we could have identified his issues and acted accordingly we could have perhaps prevented Anne Maguire's death and prevented William Cornick from becoming a murderer!
A useful life cut short because one object wanted to be the centre of attention , I don't give a rats tail for the reasons or his mental state, what I do care about is that he never gets a chance to do it again,
Yes but the reason he wanted to be the centre of attention is because he's a psychopath, he has mental issues. If we don't understand the reasons we can not review lessons learned and perhaps prevent such future tradgedy!
I believe he may be the type of person who will always be a threat to the public and therefore locking him up for life may well be the most appropriate course of action. He is obviously very dangerous!

I also am unsure about capital punishment but in some circumstances & if proven without doubt& with today's forensics there is less chance of a mistake being made, then so be it!!.

Personally I don't advocate it, but that's not through any sympathy or thought for the offender, it's because killing someone does not sit easy with me!

You gotta be kidding; there's always do-gooders asking for understanding and saying it's not the dogs fault and that it should be spared!

I am questioned for comparing stealing sweets to murder (although it was an illustration rather than a comparison) and yet you compare a dog to a human!

At what point has he been Molly-Coddled?

I don't believe I am missing the point, the point being you'd be happy to see him dead. The trouble is you seem to be trying to use an analogy to illustrate your point when actually all you need to do is say 'you'd be happy to see him executed'!

There's no need to use daft comparisons to suggest why, you don't need to justify the way you feel as it's perfectly understandable.

No let's do nothing, and then all moan and wail when the next victim is presented!

You tell me you have nothing but thoughts for the victim however I have concern for future potential victims. I'd suggest my concerns are just as valid!
