Would someone kindly bring up the link please from Mail on Line. Thank you.
It occurs to me that if you read the ''WORST COMMENTS'' You may agree why animals suffer so much?
Yes it is true the Great leader Gandhi said '' The greatness of a nation & it's progress can be judged by the way it treat's it's animals.
One comment says we should ignore them ... we have enough trouble with our own X-(X-( .
They are no trouble, they can do nothing about it. They are the victims of those that allow it to go on.

So what's the answer - when you have a country who's people can hardly feed themselves let alone stray dogs?
Maybe things will improve when their citizens get free movement inside Europe and can get work elsewhere to earn enough money to look after stray animals.

If we knew that it might not be happening.
'Maybe if they get work here' Maybe?
Maybe other thoughts on here might even help. Maybe?
Thank you marg*e.

I find it rather hypocritical for a writer who extolls the virtues of the House of Chanel and its chief designer Karl Lagerfeld to call herself "the new Canine Angel of Romania" 😮

Why?

Because Karl Lagerfeld defends the use of fur in fashion despite the vast majority of it coming from Chinese Fur farms.

Liz Jones is a vegetarian and is also very well known for her love of animals.
She is also primarily a 'fashion journalist'. Being able to keep her personal feelings seperate from her professional opinions is all part and parcel of her job I guess.
Tad harsh to call her a hypocrite though!

If she did desist from expressing her personal feelings I might agree with you, however she often brings her personal views into her articles. Being vegetarian is an expression of a strong view, so by condoning KL and his use of fur in fashion it is profoundly hypocritical on her part imo. Why write an article about dogs in Bulgaria when there are certainly enough strays and badly treated dogs in this country to worry about... reading that article it seems to me her agenda is just as much to do with Bulgarian nationals coming here to work...

They could follow the Korean example and kill two birds dogs with one stone. Reduce the 3,000,000 stray dogs to a more manageable level and, at the same time, find food for the population. I ain't saying that I like the idea myself but it's one way out of the mess they are in.

I was just saying to Irene they should eat the dogs or sell them to China..

😮 even on this thread.
'Why write an about article about dogs in Bulgaria'
Perhaps because the problem is there. We have the RSPCA, Dogs trust, Canine Defence League, Blue Cross, Battersea Dogs Home etc... They don't over there.
'It seems to YOU that her agenda is just as much to do with Bulgarian nationals coming here to work' That's a tad unfair too IMO Why did you say that if I may ask?
There are many others like these helping her even old Simon Cowell ....

Can you link me to the articles where she condones this please?
I've read that she has been barred from many fashion shows in the past including Chanel.
In her most recent April 2013 article celebrating Coco Chanel, she refers to Karl Lagerfeld as 'a silly, vain man' but nowhere can I find anything written by her which condones his use of fur in fashion.

Yes, I must admit I got a similar vibe from that article but that doesn't make her a hypocrite with regard to her love of animals?

She is also quoted as saying, "If you have never been privileged enough to attend a Chanel show, this scene will give you some idea of its perfection. I always leave a Chanel show not wanting to wear anything else"
28-04-2013 7:38 PM
To be fair to Liz Jones she has condemned the use of fur by various fashion houses, even going so far as to boycott John Galliano shows.
Never seen a comment about KL's use of and support for the fur trade ?:|

BTW Liz Jones has very recently had to sell her Somerset farmhouse where she single-handedly took care of a whole menagerie of rescued horses, dogs and cats because she was on the brink of bankruptcy.
It's a pity she didn't think to set herself up as a charity to help pay for their care instead of funding it all herself with the money she earns as a journalist.

"She is also quoted as saying, "If you have never been privileged enough to attend a Chanel show, this scene will give you some idea of its perfection. I always leave a Chanel show not wanting to wear anything else""
I'm sure she also appreciates all the scrumptious food in Harrods or Waitrose etc.but that doesn't mean she wants to eat any of the meat they sell - how utterly ridiculous?? You are seriously clutching at straws now, Creeky!

So because she hasn't specifically mentioned Karl Lagerfeld, this means that she condones it - are you for real???

Well it does seem strange when you read some of the comments by KL about the fur trade and yet not a peep of criticism by someone who has written numerous articles about the use of fur by fashion houses other than Chanel and even criticising the Queen for wearing fur.
