Just watched a BeeB programme about today's birthday girl. Like it or lump it we have a Monarch who has seen Numerous Presidents from Eisenhower to Obama, PMs from Churchill to Cameron, Popes from Piuss IIX to Francis and has held her current job for 63years! Is there no other RT lurker who feels just the slightest compunction to acknowledge her huge contribution to these Islands? The rest of the world is fascinated by the royals and yes there are hangers on BUT today sees one of our oldest Pensioners still working her silk stockings off. Please raise a glass and wish her the very best. God bless her.

A Windsor lady will reach 90 years of age, despite having to contend with the absolute best of everything her entire life.
Elizabeth Windsor, 90, has confounded critics who seem stunned that she has managed to reach the age of 90, something only half a million other people in the UK somehow managed to do.
Royal fan Simon Williams told us, “Living to the ripe old age of 90 isn’t easy, and she should be commended for her steadfast conviction in enjoying the very best treatment the human race has to offer.
“She has to live in a palace, deal with servants, eat only the best food, be seen only by the best doctors – I really don’t know how she does it.
“It’s almost like she’s let the stress of paying the mortgage on those places just wash over her; she’s a credit to the nation.
“You’d never guess she raised four kids, would you? Running round after that number of children can take its toll, but not on her.
“She’s also had one job her entire life, which is amazing in this day and age, what with monster.com and recruitment consultants. You’d think there’s no loyalty to your employer in modern society, but she’s remained our queen despite what I’m sure were lots of other lucrative offers.
“Oh, and the pubs are staying open later to celebrate – did I mention that? Love her. Love her to bits.”

I admire Her Majesty...and her dedication to duty. Despite her wealth, servants and all the trappings that go with being a Royal, I wouldn't want her job for all the tea in China. So....A Happy Birthday to her Maj!

I wasn't aware that it was necessary to be a monarchist to consider myself a patriot.

I wouldn't want her job either. She has to smile whether she feels like it or not. She has to sit with a hairdresser every single day. She has to keep going even when her feet hurt or she has a headache, and keep that smile on. And she must be so sick of hearing that damned song.
Expensive clothes and fancy food could soon get to be too much.
I once had a job where I had to dress for dinner every night, and I hated it.
Poor old Liz has probably never experienced the sheer joy of beens on toast, on a tray, in front of the telly, in her dressing gown and slippers. It's hard work to be constantly at your best and look like you enjoy it. I did it for 18 months and found it very wearing. The queen has been doing it for over 60 years.

Well I'm a Republican with Monarchist tendencies.....
Patriotism has nothing to do with a love of the Queen .....patriotism is a love of your country & the values it espouses
I have no great love of the over privileged Monarchy......BUT....I'll happily stick with the old dodderer & her leeching family in preference to the alternatives....yes I'd rather have a Monarchy than the alternative...a Presidency in a country where elections results are generally decided by which party Mr Murdoch persuades the mindless masses who read his rags to vote for......
I dread to imagine a President Blair or Cameron.......and just look at some of the clowns the US has had...Reagan, Bush & next possibly Trump
Yes I'm a patriot....I love my country......I'm willing to tolerate the Windsors (and long may Liz carry on unless Charlie decides to allow the crown to pass to William)
