Am I the only patriot left?

Just watched a BeeB programme about today's birthday girl. Like it or lump it we have a Monarch who has seen Numerous Presidents from Eisenhower to Obama,  PMs from Churchill to Cameron, Popes from Piuss IIX to Francis and has held her current job for 63years! Is there no other RT lurker who feels just the slightest compunction to acknowledge her huge contribution to these Islands? The rest of the world is fascinated by the royals and yes there are hangers on BUT today sees one of our oldest Pensioners still working her silk stockings off. Please raise a glass and wish her the very best. God bless her.

A minor flurry there, thank goodness we still attract the odd pedant to split a hair or two, the odd republican to stick up for the rights of the underclasses, the not so odd satirist with a tongue in cheek P take😀
Oh well thankfully HRH is still largely viewed with affection but who is to say what the future will bring. Vive la révolution ⚔

I'm neither here nor there, but I wouldn't dwell too long on this country's past monarchs........there's been some pretty undesirable types in that long line.  The current Queen has done a good job, although she's had every privilege and care at her disposal......I'm still not sure I'd want to be born into a straight jacket.......even if it was encrusted with diamonds.  As for patriotism, a good monarch helps; but it's great people that make a great country.
