Once you accept an offer Ebay consider the item as sold.

You can report the buyer for non payment but the listing fee is non refundable so you pay the same fee every time you list it.

Safest way to try and sell a vehicle is via a classified ad.Don't end the listing until you have been paid and vehicle has gone.Don't end the ad if someone makes an offer as listing will end and you will end up back where you are now if buyer doesn't buy.

With a classified ad you can arrange a viewing, haggle and end the listing once sold.No one can buy without your consent.

No point talking to Ebay as all the terms/conditions are freely available.

While it is explained in the selling help pages it is a fairly common trap/pitfall for the occaisional user and generates far more negative feeling than the marginal cost difference between the two ways of selling.

If it were me (and thank God I'm not eBay!) I would get rid of the fixed-price listing and just go with Classified or Auction - or (less likely) find a way such that the buyer who backed out has to pay the re-listing fee.

In the meantime, yes chasing eBay is unlikely to help, but definitely use the feedback system so they know how it worked/failed for you.

"but definitely use the feedback system so they know how it worked/failed for you."

There's no way OP can use feedback for that, its 100% positive for buyers or nothing.

As advised and for information :-

Using a PC/Laptop > Classified Ads. at £19. 99 will allow the exchange of contact details for viewing and price negotiation over a 30 day period ... set the Start price at or near the price that you would find acceptable ...>>> avoid inviting Offers as if accepted the listing stops and may never complete <<<... just continue to Negotiate an acceptable selling price and only remove the Ad. when you have a definite buyer with Cash in hand or Bank Transfer is safely deposited/confirmed before handing over Vehicle keys/documents on buyer collection. No further FVF selling fee is charged ...

PayPal payments should not be accepted .... CASH is safest so No Payment Holds or risk of later disputes >

No, this is feedback to eBay as a seller, not feedback on the buyer or against the transaction.

If in the Seller Hub then the floating '?' bottom right gives access to a feedback or tech problem reporting links and looks like ...
