eBay's new Messages system makes me feel irritated.
I think I'd already taken the 'switch back to classic' option a few months ago, but here is the ugly new Message system staring me in the face again.
It's like one of the old decrepit original email systems that tried to gain traction with Gmail, but went bust.
I dislike the new system/interface with a passion, so is there still a way to switch back to classic?
...and if not, can eBay reintroduce it, cos this new system's REALLY horrible.

Ebay couldn't care less. It's as if they want to downsize. They certainly don't want to keep their members. I've been a 'Member' since early 2005 & I've watched it all happen. Ebay 'management' couldn't organise a pi** up in a brewery.

'Ebay may, just may listen.' Pull the other one you; )
It's called a 'Comedy of Errors' if you are a 'member'.

I agree with every word you say in Para 2. I'm 20 years dealing with their 'updating' BS also...
I've had enough of it now.

You a shareholder? The odd one out. A black sheep?
You definitely a very small minority.
Heaven forbid you buy something to collect & can't contact the seller...

The stupid thing with the new messaging system is, I received a message but only saw the latter half of it, i.e. a list of items wanted. So I missed the question at the start regarding whether I would accept the buyer's offer. What a stupid concept the Ebay morons have come up with now!

My understanding of the new message system is that it's supposed to emulate the text messaging system on Smartphones. The old message system was actually a bad version of desktop computer-based webmail. I didn't like the fact that with the old system a conversation didn't "thread" the way it does with more up-to-date webmail and text messaging interfaces, and while there are still glitches with this new system, I do find it easier to actually have something resembling a conversation with the other party, and it cuts down on my tendency to be verbose. 😂

I still can’t read it as everything is squashed and too small print. I still can’t differentiate between sent or received. I’ve still missed numerous enquiries/questions. I’ve had to apologise to three people for seemingly ignoring their questions for a week. I still can’t see the point of the square letters at the beginning of each message. If I can’t read the title, don’t know the user name etc the letters are meaningless?
I’ve tried every day but getting totally fed up now. I get quite annoyed and irritated each time I open the messages.
I don’t actually use text messages very often . I find texting too awkward so I’m not looking for a copy of that system. I simply want the old user friendly messaging system back! I used it for years without a single missed message! It was clear and easy to navigate and most of all visible and tidy.

No. You're the only one who prefers it.
I don't and didn't want conversations with buyers or sellers. I was happy to read any messages that came my way and replying is a separate issue. (I still get them all in E-mails anyway.)
I've ticket kudos for everyone else. So go take a running jump.

Yes, I've been caught by only seeing half a message, then realised there was more to it. You have to use the tiny scroll bar on the right, & scroll up to see the top half of the message... it really is a very fiddly, badly designed layout, especially for those of us that don't like this 'chat box' style of messaging.

Merry Christmas to you, too. 😁

It is only fair that those who like the new system get to have their say. I think the pc users tend to prefer the old messages layout, whereas perhaps smartphone users have got more used to 'chat' style messaging.
Unfortunately, the new system looks like it has been designed only for smartphones. It is a pity eBay can't/won't do both, so we would all be happy... 😄

As the majority of posters on this discussion have problems/issues even after several weeks, I doubt that a couple of people saying they like the new system will do anything to improve others opinions.
I only use a tablet, as that is all I have. The new system doesn’t work for me. The old system worked exactly as it should…no clutter, everything organised. I couldn’t use a smartphone as the screens are too small for me to see properly. I’ve never owned a PC. I’ve successfully used a tablet for many years.
I’m afraid that the odd person declaring this an improvement simply makes me feel even more irritated and annoyed. Hard to imagine really as I’ve been totally infuriated since the changeover!

"Only fair...." It's not in the least bit fair.

Self self self. There are other people here, you know.

Yes, there many many people here and the majority are having issues/problems. I thought the I’m alright Jack posts were in the minority. 🙂
PS. Why pick on me to criticise out of the numerous people who have voiced their issues? Incidentally , we are all voicing our personal opinion/gripes, so we are all “self”
