Why are my drafts disappearing

That's it really. Why are they not saved immediately after creating a listing? Maybe I'm doing something wrong as I've only been using Ebay's lister for a few weeks. Used Auctiva for years.

You have to click on a save button.

Where is the save button? There is only Resume Drafts, Delete Drafts and Create a Copy on the Manage Drafts page.

I have clicked Save for Later and it saves the draft. But when I list it, unless I make a copy it disappears!

I seem to remember when you clicked to list an item, it used to offer the option of making a copy/template. Unfortunately it no longer does this. I think all you can do is remember to create a copy before listing, or click on 'sell similar' after you've listed, & save for later.
