Update payment method issues

In July I sold an item for £6.00 which which arrived broken. I agreed to refund buyer but for some reason was unable too. I did an online chat and eBay refunded buyer on my behalf. Since then I have had all sorts of problems trying to pay eBay this £6.00 outstanding amount. I have done numerous online chats in which I'm told it will be escalated but I never here anything back. My account is telling me to add a card for costs but I already have a bank account linked for payments and a card for costs. I have now deleted and registered my card details around 20 times but am still unable to pay this £6.00. It is very frustrating, can anyone help.

It may be that you are adding and deleting your card so many times that eBay have not had time to register and verify those details.

 

Leave it a few days with the presently registered card,  then use a laptop / PC not the app or mobile browser, and then try again.  Chrome and Firefox work best with eBay.

 

I know you've contacted eBay many times,  but if the problem persists, contact them again but only very first thing in the morning when the lies first open preferably at 8 a.m. on weekdays,  9 a.m. weekends,  there's more chance of Dublin answering,  and directing you on the correct path to pay this fee.

On weekdays lines open between 8 a.m. and 10 p .m.

On weekends they open between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Thank you. I have deleted and re added card at the request of the online chat people on app and on pc. I am able to make purchases with the registered card so I know there are no problems with it but just not able to pay this amount. My account clearly shows that I have a bank account registered for payouts and a card for costs yet when I try to pay this £6.00 I get a notification to update payment method. When I do it just takes me back to the same page of update payment method.  I have been going round in circles with this for 6 weeks now and getting nowhere.

Unfortunately no I didn’t. The problem was solved when I sold an item and EBay took the balance I owed them from the sale. EBay told me it was my bank that was the problem with their security procedures.  Whether this is correct I don’t know as I never took it any further when the problem was resolved with the sale. I hope you have better luck than I did and yes I agree it’s infuriating. You go round and round in circles. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. Same thing has happened to me, thankfully I’ve just
sold something which cleared the balance and refunded the buyer. I’ve
checked the card address and everything else is correct and the same card
is used for purchases so there’s no reason at all why it shouldn’t work.
Perhaps it’s an issue with our banks?

Good I’m glad to hear it’s all sorted now. It’s very strange isn’t it. I’m the same as you, same card used for purchases with no problem so maybe it is an issue with the bank. If the same thing occurred again, the next step would be to contact bank I suppose but who wants to go through all the hassle that would bring.
