And for those in the EU who sell art to the UK, eBay needs to ensure the correct 5% rate is shown. At the moment it randomly jumps from 5% to 20% being shown, yet previous sales show UK customers are charged the correct 5%.
I tried listing on eBay.com with UK visibliity and the correct 5% is shown on eBay.co.uk, but listing directly on eBay.co.uk randomly displays either 5% (the correct rate) or 20%, with no rhyme nor reason, even with the same type of art, in the same category, with the same item specifics, using sell similar.

Hi all,
This issue has been escalated yesterday.
Our teams are working on it, while I do not have an estimate for a resolution we continue to share any new examples that come on the thread to make sure all impacted sellers are on the list. The team have acknowledged this as an issue.
Thank you for sharing your experiences here. It helps me to be able to get the information to the correct teams here.
Many thanks,
Katie

You don't seem to understand the problem here. This does not just affect the one or two sellers who are complaining on here. Its EVERYBODY who is listing in the affected categories. We shouldnt need to give you you an example, just run a search.
In Coins you just need to have a buying account set with a UK delivery address, then search for UK sellers only. I've searched for auctions only, as the illegal VAT charge is clearly shown on auction listings, and as its only happened this week, you need to search by newly listed.
My search was for German coins (please, if in any doubt re-read the above paragraph, describing the search terms - I am searching for German coins based in the UK being sold to someone else in the UK - so VAT should NOT be added)

Hi @jreg-fuchsias,
We are aware that it is not just the sellers listed here. Our teams will also do a search.
However, when we are exploring issues and trying to resolve it helps our teams to have account and item number examples that we can review in detail. It helps priorities the issue. Our Community is great as you all share issues with us first usually before any other area of eBay. Your examples shared here helped me to open the issue with the technical team.
Now that they are aware of the issue they will solve the issue for all members, not just those on a list.
Hope this helps to explain.
Thanks,
Katie

While its a relief to hear (from the now locked community chat hour thread) that buyers are not being charged extra, what are eBays plans to compensate all the sellers of auction listings that have been adversely affected during this period?
Buyers are being told they are going to be charged 20% VAT on the auction price, its even showing them the VAT charge when they bid. So while its good news if they are not actually being charged it when the auction ends and they come to pay, it means that the auction will finish at a lower price.
For example if a buyer thinks an item is worth £120. They would normally bid £120.
However if they think they are being charged VAT at 20%, they will only bid £100 (100+20%=£120). So in this scenario the seller loses out by £20
So what are eBays plans to compensate sellers who have lost out 20% on all their auction listings?

Hi, I have same issue, no VAT shown, but SOME items in ART section show different prices if you look at the item when browsing Vs when you decide to look in detail. For example, a picture which I listed for £25 shows price as £30 if you click on it to open. Item number 203921296677.
This is not a new listing.

I listed just now - two paintings, following some recommendations to avoid issue with VAT I print unknown country, region and etc. Doesn't work 😞 Vat stuck right away. Here is no ways to do something by yourself...

They've been charging VAT on sales for some time. It's not the current issue. The issue is that the system adds VAT to the listed items automatically even if the seller is not VAT registered like myself. I'm a private seller not a shop. I looked up how to update VAT information. There's a video and a description but both refer to a section under "account preferences" called "site preferences" and maybe such section exist for business sellers, but I couldn't find it in my private account... so there's some kind of a recent glitch. My question is - did your UK buyer have to pay this newly added VAT or not?

I tried one of my listings that showed the correct 5% on eBay.co.uk, and selected sell similar - didn't change anything other than the pictures, listed it, and now it shows 20%... After Brexit it took a couple of months for eBay to sort out the correct rates so they won't overcharging people, and now they've reverted back to the mess that it was before.
And just the week prior to all this the view count stopped altogether for several days, leading to confusion.
A couple of weeks prior to that, items were not indexing on other eBay sites (even when the service being paid for)... One of my auctions got indexed 9 days into it's 10 day listing span.
All these back to back updates are causing way too many problems. I hope buyers will be reimbursed, and sellers if their fees are increased to account for incorrect VAT amounts being applied.

The new relisted "buy it now" prices became 20% bigger, this automatically happened for items ended and relisted "good till cancelled". I not sold nothing yet from here. But I sold one item listed today in "auction style". Here was note about 20% vVAT from ebay. I sold and VAT was charged from me but only from ebay fees.

Thanks again for your useful information, I had trouble with the silver Britannias in the bullion section , so I put it in the £2 coin section, and it worked , but the sales are down as people don't search there. It's really bad how long this is taking to fix though , and concerned how many people have overpaid or been put off.
